Titleist GT2 Vs Titleist TSR2 Driver
In Today’s review, we have got two of the very best drivers on the market right now and two of the latest flagship releases for high to mid handicappers from Ttileist. Let’s see what’s new in the GT2 and how they actually got on in head to head testing.
What’s New?
More Refined Looks
The most obvious difference in the GT2 over the TSR2 is that the shape is more refined to look like a players model.
It’s hard to tell the difference between the GT2 and TSR3 which was for slightly better players last time out.
That should mean more Mid To Low Handicap Players will lean towards the GT2 in 2025 and beyond.
It’s a big, forgiving driver with high MOI that offers plenty of forgiveness.
New Carbon Crown Material
While the TSR2 relied on a traditional metal mix in the crown, Titleist have finally added some new material and it’s top secret.
The Proprietary Matrix Polymer is hand finished to blend seamlessly in with the rest of the head of the club.
This has enabled weight reductions and sound optimization with the GT2 over the TSR2.
Improved Aerodynamics
Titleist have claimed to have reduced drag and improved aerodynamics with their new driver and we did see an increase club speed of about 1 mph over the TSR2.
The TSR2 was a bit elongated for forgiveness. Now it looks and performs better.
Speed Ring VFT Face
The TSR2 relied on a multi Plateau variable face technology which was good but it could have had a little extra pop when caught flush.
The Speed Ring VFT has utilized AI to improve the forgiveness in the face
Perfo4mance GT2 VS TSR2
The GT2 does improve on the overall performance from the TSR2.
That extra mph translates into an extra 5 to yards of carry for us.
We alo had a higher flight and lower spin thanks to the new Aerodynamics and CG positioning.
The dispersion was also better in terms of left and right and distance.
The drivers are close but be prepared to see plenty of golfers using the GT2 in 2025 and beyond.
It was also the best driver we have tested so far in 2025 overall.
Titleist GT2 Driver
In 20 Words or Less
More Speed and more forgiveness than the already excellent TSR2. A quality all round driver for 2024 onwards.
Titliest GT2 – First Impressions
“The GT2 looks amazing with the gloss black colouring and we see the elongated head which is longer from back to from to keep the weight lower and further back..”
Titleist really dominated with the TSR2, so it was a big job to improve on it, but they have managed the job well. The best kept secret about the GT2 is the Proprietary Matrix Polymer crown which is hand finished to ensure no join lines and it rolls seemlessly into other parts of the club. Titleist say, this reduces drag, improves aerodynamic and also saves weight.
The saved weight is used in a split mass positioning system which keeps the cog low and deep. There is also a removable weight at the back of the head to dial this club in to your exact needs. The Speed ring VFT worked extremely well in the TSR2 but not as much when you caught it flush.
The GT2 improves on this with even more sweet spots in the face and optimal ball flight. The flight is high on the GT2 but the smash factor was also the best among the 2024 and 2025 drivers. You get a higher launch, steeper decent angle, less spin, more carry and more total distance. A really great performing driver.
Titleist avoided Carbon until now because the weight savings were offset by the components to hold it in place, but also the sound. The GT2 sounds like a classic Titleist driver with a crisp powerful sound that hangs in the air nearly as long as the beautful ball flights.
The Titleist TSR2 Driver First Impressions
The first thing to notice about this club is head shaping. Titleist have gone for a more classic look in the most stable and forgiving offering in the TSR Range.
That means a Boat Trail at the trailing edge of the club and a rounder smooth curvature that Titleist Traditionalists will love, it looks like a Titleist driver.
All the frills have been removed from the sole of the club and the result again is more minimalist and clean.
Multi Plateau Variable Face Thickness allows this club to be extremely consistent in regard to ball speed and direction. It’s got an incredibly thin face in the middle with strategically thicker areas to the side.
This results in consistent ball speed and flight path when hit in common miss locations on the face.
This ensures that the TSR2 is the ‘Max’ version of this series and will suit players who struggle to hit the sweet spot every time.
This driver produces more club head speed, ball speed, and carry distance than the TSi2. It also has less spin, a lower launch angle, and more consistency resulting in an excellent new driver overall for Titleist.
The club has plenty of options for adjustments too, you can adjust the lie and loft independently with the club lofts running from 8 degrees to 11.
The TSR2 is certainly an upgrade on the TSi2 for us and is a club that will suit both tour and amateur players this season.

Who is the Titleist GT2 for?
“This is the most forgiving of the range but it can be used by any level of golfer. Mainly for high to mid handicappers.”
The Titleist R&D team can give themselves a pat on the back for this one and it will continue Titleists dominance in the driver space.
A driver that sounds and feels amazing but alos produces long, straight high flights with slow spin and unbeatable distance. It doesnt get much better than this.
The Speed Ring VFT really fires the ball straight from anywhere but you do get a little extra boost in the middle of the face that you didnt get with the TSR2.
Add that to the adjustable weight at the back and the excellent hosel adjustment season and it’s hard to see how any other driver can take ont eh GT2 in 2024/2025 and win.

Who Is The TSR2 Driver For
The TSR2 Driver is going to suit all golfers from Tour Professionals, to those trying to improve their handicap with longer, more consistent shots.
The TSR range is probably not going to be a good bet for a high handicapper unless they want to fork out substantial money for this amazing club in place of something second hand or less expensive.
That being said, the TSR2 is aimed at the player who struggles to hit the center of the club face consistently.
If you are a High to Mid Handicapper, this driver is likely to bring optimal consistency to your game, especially when dialled into your own personal swing dynamics.
This is a premium club for those who want the very best performance from their driver.
The club is high launching and with low spin for those that that will suit.
If you have a slice or hook, the VFT and inviting face may have a lot to offer your game.
This is also for golf who want to impress their friends and golf mates with an epic driver from the tour players’ favorite brand.
Titleist was disappointed that Tour players were not using the TSi2 and this big improvement should get more of the biggest names in golf wielding the club in the coming seasons.
The TSR Family Of Drivers
The TSR is the most accurate and forgiving of the clubs and is available now.
The TSR1 is the lightweight, further stripped down version with a lighter shaft and higher loft for seniors and those with slower swing speeds.
The TSR3 is for the players and those who strike the ball consistently already. It has a changeable Center of Gravity placement.
It has a slightly lower launch and low levels of spin too, an excellent option for the better ball strikers.
