Taylormade Qi35 Max Vs Titleist GT2 Drivers Comparison Overview

Taylormade QI35 Vs Titleist GT2

The two latest and most forgiving drivers from two top brands in Q135 from Taylormade and the 2024 released GT2 driver from Titleist.

Taylormade QI35 Driver Overview

Qi35 Max 4

The Taylormade QI35 comes in 4 different versions.

The Standard, the Max, The Max Lite and the LS version for low handicappers and tour players.

In terms of looks, there is no comparison between the QI35 and the GT2. the Gun metal carbin wrapped all around the crown and sole looks amazing at address, in the bag and on the shelf.

Most discerning golfers will be more interested in the performance of the drivers however.

The lightweight material allows for the COG to be lower and deeper in the head of the QI35 max and they are able to produce an 11k MOI design because of these advancements.

The twist face is still carbon but now it is black instead of red or blue like previous models.

The sound of the driver is also quite good. Strong and powerful, the carbon face is definitely improving with each new release.

Titleist GT2 Driver Overview

Gt2 Titleist

The TSR2 was incredibly popular and high performing so the Titleist R&D team had a tough job in coming up with improvements for the latest GT2 driver for 2024 and beyond.

Titleist have finally utilised some carbon in their crown but it is a super secret Proprietary Matrix Polymer developed by the in house team which improves aerodynamics and reduces drag in the design.

The new material is also lighter, allowing Titleist to move the COG back lower and deeper in the head.

There is also a removal weight at the back of the club which can help optimise it for your exact swing and the hosel adjustment also works extremely well.

When you hit the driver, you can see why they have avoided carbon so far in the face. It sounds and feels amazing and is next level compared to many competitors in terms of feel.

The Speed Ring Variable Face Technology is also really good, were finding it tough to miss the fairway even on heel or toe strikes.

Titleist GT2 Vs Taylormade QI35 Max Performance

The GT2 took this one quite easily in terms of performance.

There is not a million miles between them but it was quite apparent.

The GT2 had a higher launch, lower spin, more carry, more total distance and a steeper decent angle.

We also had a tigher dispersion in terms of distance and right to left.

We had a few misses to the left with the QI35.

We don’t feel the Carbon face is quite where it’s at yet but the GT2 is our best driver overall so its very hard to beat it.

A Large Profile with a beautiful carbon design and a black twist face coupled with premium performance in Distance, Spin And Forgiveness.

Taylormade Qi35 Max Driver – First Impressions

Qi35 Max 4

“The Black Carbon Twist really stands out as a premium looking driver and the Carbon Crow And Sole Screams, Hit Me.”

The QI25 Max is a driver you can pick straight off the rack and put into play and it has no adjustable weights to play around with and optimise for your particular strike. Indeed the standard version has lower spin and is almost just as forgiving.

Taylormade have managed to get this driver up to 10k MOI by lowering and deepening the COG for optimal launch and forgiveness.

The Crown and sole of the driver is wrapped in Carbon to reduced the weight and it also looks great at addres with a big forgiving profile and a massive face.

Twist face technology is used in the black carbon face to keep shots moving straight, long and far.

There is a fixed 34g weight at the back of the club that is not adjustable so minus changing the shaft, this is very much an off the rack driver.

There is a toss up between the QI35 and the QI35 Max which are very close in terms of performance and maybe Taylormade only needed to release one of these drivers in 2025.

Overall a very nice drive that sounds amazing and delivers on its promises of max distance and max forgiveness.

Titleist GT2 Driver

GT2 67

More Speed and more forgiveness than the already excellent TSR2. A quality all round driver for 2024 onwards.

Titliest GT2 – First Impressions

GT2 4

“The GT2 looks amazing with the gloss black colouring and we see the elongated head which is longer from back to from to keep the weight lower and further back..”

Titleist really dominated with the TSR2, so it was a big job to improve on it, but they have managed the job well. The best kept secret about the GT2 is the Proprietary Matrix Polymer crown which is hand finished to ensure no join lines and it rolls seemlessly into other parts of the club. Titleist say, this reduces drag, improves aerodynamic and also saves weight.

The saved weight is used in a split mass positioning system which keeps the cog low and deep. There is also a removable weight at the back of the head to dial this club in to your exact needs. The Speed ring VFT worked extremely well in the TSR2 but not as much when you caught it flush.

The GT2 improves on this with even more sweet spots in the face and optimal ball flight. The flight is high on the GT2 but the smash factor was also the best among the 2024 and 2025 drivers. You get a higher launch, steeper decent angle, less spin, more carry and more total distance. A really great performing driver.

Titleist avoided Carbon until now because the weight savings were offset by the components to hold it in place, but also the sound. The GT2 sounds like a classic Titleist driver with a crisp powerful sound that hangs in the air nearly as long as the beautful ball flights.

Who is the Taylormade Qi35 Max for?

Qi35 Max 5

“The QI35 Max is for All golfer but especially high handicappers who want straight shots with decent forgiveness and a lot of distance”

There is 4 drivers to choose from and the QI35 Max will suit moderate to slighter faster swing speeds.

If you are somebody that struggles with slicing the ball, the twist face technology has been ramped up in the carbon face to ensure you get straight ball flights with tight distance dispersion almost all the time.

The QI35 Max is very close in terms of performance to the QI35 standard and that comes with an adjustable weight too allowing the club to be optimised for you particular swing and approach to driving the ball.

Who is the Titleist GT2 for?

Gt2 Titleist

“This is the most forgiving of the range but it can be used by any level of golfer. Mainly for high to mid handicappers.”

The Titleist R&D team can give themselves a pat on the back for this one and it will continue Titleists dominance in the driver space.

A driver that sounds and feels amazing but alos produces long, straight high flights with slow spin and unbeatable distance. It doesnt get much better than this.

The Speed Ring VFT really fires the ball straight from anywhere but you do get a little extra boost in the middle of the face that you didnt get with the TSR2.

Add that to the adjustable weight at the back and the excellent hosel adjustment season and it’s hard to see how any other driver can take ont eh GT2 in 2024/2025 and win.
