Titleist GT2 Fairway Wood Review – Is it Good & Forgiving for High Handicappers?

GT2 Fairway Wood

When Titleist releases new clubs the golfing world already knows they are going to be premium quality and the same is true for the 2025 GT2 Fairway Woods.

Titleist turned to their tour players to see what changes they wanted to see from the TSR2, and the answer was a higher launch with the same spin rates, a task that seemed impossible but the R & D team at Titleist have brought into existence.

Proprietary Mix Polymer now replaces the steel construction and it is 5 times lighter. We also have a weight under the head which lowers the CG and brings it forward to get that high ball flight.

The L Cup Face is perfect for shots hit thin to get in the air too which is a common mishits for high and mid-handicappers.

Having said that, this wood will be suitable for any level of player.

The GT2 the more forgiving Fairway wood in the series, with a larger head from front to back.

The Design is beautiful as always with that Thermoforged Carbon Crown and glossed Black finish, with the letters GT aligning the ball in the middle of the head towards the target.

Despite the carbon head, the club still sounds and looks amazing.

We also have the Surefit sleeve, which allows you to adjust the loft and the lie angle to suit your needs although it doesn’t have the adjustable weight like the GT3.

The sole on the GT2 sits more plush and straight on the ground, increasing the length of the sweet spot.

The Following lofts are available:

13.5°, 15.0°, 16.5°, 18.0°, 21.0°

The Titleist GT Fairway Wood Family

The Gt2 is the slightly larger and more forgiving of the Fairway woods while the GT3 will suit players who prefer a more compact shape, more adjust ability and higher spin rates.

Is it Good for High Handicappers?

Yeah, this is the Fairway wood in the range for the higher handicapper.

It has a slightly larger profile and it sits flush on the ground for a larger sweet spot in the heel and toe, while the L Forged face is great for the thin shots, which I even do myself from time to time, but very common in high handicap players.

Confidence inspiring design with plenty of height and stable levels of spin.

The letters GT look slick and the align the club with the target perfectly.

When you get the club in hand, you notice how light it is with the Proprietary Mix Polymer construction and you can see that the club sits flush against the ground.

You get a nice height with the club and the spin rates remain moderate, which was the goal of Titleist with the club.

The sound is fully metallic even with all the carbon and Titleist have a really winner on their hands with the GT2.

The club sits flush on the ground with a long sweet spot from heel to toe while a weight under the club, pushes the CG lower and more forward.

We have the Surefit sleeve which allows you to change the loft and lie of the club and you have L Face Cup for strikes low on the face and thinned.

Who is the Titleist GT2 Fairway Wood for?

“The Titleist GT2 Fairway suits a wide range of golfers from high handicappers up to Tour Pros.”

Naturally, it will appeal more to high handicappers. But more specifically, I would say this fairway is most suitable for high handicappers who are struggling to correct a slice.

If you are looking to get the ball in the air from almost any lie and want forgiveness across the face from heel to toe and even strikes low on the face, the GT2 is worth considering.

It’s got a premium look and feel and the price point is also premium, but there is a reason that so many Tour golfers, turn to Titleist for their clubs.
