The Project X Catalyst 60 Ion Chrome Graphite Iron shaft is a great choice for anyone looking for a lightweight shaft that will help them increase their swing speed. It comes in a variety of flexes so you can fine tune your preferred launch angles basically from low to high.

And while this is a true graphite shaft, it gives the look of a traditional iron shaft so it won’t be too jarring of a transition. The Fujikura PRO Series 95i Graphite Iron Shafts feature a high density carbon core which allowed Fujikura to create the most accurate swing weight ratings. The Fujikura PRO Series 95i Graphite Iron Shafts feels fast on the downswing and mimics the feel of steel shafts fairly well.

There are a variety of choices in terms of flex as well so this would be a great choice for a wide variety of players. In general though, we really liked the consistency of this shaft so it would be a solid choice for anyone who emphasizes maximum predictability from their irons.

#3 – INTEGRA SUPERLITE Graphite 50 Gram Distance Iron Shaft

If you are looking for a great shaft for the money than the INTEGRA SUPERLITE Graphite 50 Gram Distance Iron Shaft would be a great choice. This is an incredibly light shaft and even our high handicap testers were able to up their swing speed with it.

It may not be the best-looking graphite iron shaft; but at just around $40 you really can’t go wrong. At 50 grams, this shaft produced a mid ball flight which was actually preferred by some of our better testers. From distance, they were able to land more greens with this shaft.

Pros:

• Great for long irons
• Fairly high handicap-friendly
• Great price

Cons:

• Only one color choice for lite and amateur flex
• Doesn’t launch very high

#4 – KBS MAX Graphite Iron 75 Regular+ Flex Golf Shaft

While the KBS Max graphite iron shafts come in different flexes, for the purpose of testing, we used the Regular+ flex shaft. The Regular+ version of this shaft would be ideal for players with swing speeds between 69 and 77 miles per hour.

So right off the bat, it’s a great shaft for beginners, seniors and high handicappers. In fact, this KBS line of shafts was made specifically with slower swing speed players in mind. Most of our testers liked the short game spin these shafts helped produce.

Ozik may not be a brand that dominates the graphite shaft market but we had to add this model to our list. The Graphite Matrix Ozik Program F15 85 Iron shafts are great for players who are seeking more control from a graphite shaft.

The flight patterns this shaft was producing was tight and very similar to comparably weighted steel iron shafts. The launch wasn’t very high; but we think more accurate players will be able to score faster with this shaft.

The UST Recoil 660 R-Flex Graphite Iron Shaft holds lines like a dream. This is a very consistent shaft that will play long on your irons and even on your hybrids. It feels very smooth and stable but still provides a powerful kick at the point you need it most.

It produces a straight/mid trajectory which is what you want if you are looking to increase your accuracy. Overall, this would be a great choice for any golfer transitioning away from heavier steel shafts. While it is lighter, you still get most of the power that is typically lost with graphite shafts.

Some of our testers were able to drastically improve their 4 iron distance with this shaft in fact. While some of them even avoided pulling out their 4 irons altogether, the UST Recoil 660 R-Flex Graphite Iron shaft was yielding them 200 yards.

Pros:

• Plenty of air time
• A great choice for instant distance improvement
• Great for both mid and low handicap players

Cons:

• Launch angles aren’t great
• Not the lightest graphite shaft on the market

The AccuFLEX Assassin 41″ Lite Nano Red Rocket Graphite Iron shaft has a mid-soft tip so it would be a great choice for players that a smooth to aggressive swing. Most of our testers really liked the feel of this shaft and noted that it was lightweight and helped increase club head speed.

Spin rates are decent too. While we would have liked to get more spin around the green, in the long irons the spin rates were just rate. The AccuFLEX Assassin 41″ Lite Nano Red Rocket Graphite Iron shaft tends to produce a mid, penetrating ball flight that makes your longer irons cannons.

The AccuFLEX Assassin 41″ Lite Nano Red Rocket Graphite Iron Shafts also sports a .370 parallel tip. What’s more is that this is one of the most affordable graphite iron shafts on our list. You can affordably outfit your entire iron st with these shafts if you have a mind to.

Pros:

• Does a great job of preserving energy from your swing
• Very tight shot dispersion

• A bit inaccurate in the mid irons
• Only available with a red, unflattering finish

We end our list with a premium graphite shaft from Alpha Golf. This would be a great shaft for players with fast swing speed as the high modulus carbon fiber design does a lot to preserve swing speed energy. Our testers were noting increases of distance in the 5 iron of about 9 yards on average.

We really liked the look and feel of this shaft too. It sports a matte finish and provides enough feedback to inform even your chip shots.
