Today we are going to be putting into words what our test of the Callaway Big Bertha B21 and the Taylormade SIM 2 driver came up with.
Taylormade SIM 2 Driver Overview
The Taylormade SIM 2 was made chiefly for forgiveness and distance. Indeed, you get a good amount of both with this driver.
Right off the bat, the Taylormade SIM 2 would be a great choice for any mid to high handicapper. The rear weight helps with distance and keeps your shots straight.
The forward-oriented internal weighting also works to reduce spin off the tee which more often than not, will add distance to your drive.
The Taylormade SIM 2 also features an adjustable loft sleeve so you can tweak your lie angles a bit.
However, we found this feature a bit superfluous in a driver that was designed primarily for beginners and high handicappers.
Callaway Big Bertha B21 Driver Overview
The Big Bertha B21 will be a godsend for you if you are having trouble with a pesky slice.
That’s because there is an internal heel-based weight that generates draw bias. It was much easier to square up to the ball with the Big Bertha B21 than it was with the Taylormade SIM 2.
The Big Bertha also felt more wieldy and stable on the downswing.
The Big Bertha even played a bit longer than the Taylormade SIM 2. Overall, we were averaging about 11 more yards with the Big Bertha than we were with the Taylormade SIM 2.
The Big Bertha B21 would also be a great choice for beginners and high handicappers.
Just don’t expect much in the way of workability. The Big Bertha is great for producing straight shots but if you are looking to hit a specific spot on the fairway, you’re not going to get much help from this driver.
At the end of the day though, neither of these drivers were made to be very workable. With that in mind, we liked Big Bertha more. It was longer and felt more stable.

If straighter, longer shots are what you’re after then you would do quite well with the Callaway Big Bertha B21.
Sim 2 Driver – First Impressions
The first thing you notice about this driver is the large and the attractive, colorful design with advanced features popping out of every crevice in the driver.
The club is surprisingly light and the sweet spot is so big, you cant imagine hitting anything but a straight shot.
If slices are a problem for you in your game, the Max D version is almost guaranteed to iron that out of your game and if you want to opt for a more playable driver with extra distance the Sim is perfect. For us the Sim Max was a happy in between to hit.
The ultra thin steel face is speed injected for maximum distance and the Sim 2 is among the longest drivers in the game right now, but the thru slot speed pocket is also amazing at increasing the size of the sweet spot when hit low on the face.
The forged ring construction and carbon fiber sole delivers some of the fastest swing speeds in the game today.
It also has the inertia generator for higher MOI and split mass weighting, including a 16g steel weight and the back of the club for an incredible, long accurate and forgiving driver, used by some the world’s best players including Dustin Johnson.
Callaway Big Bertha B21 First Impressions
At first glance, the Big Bertha B21 will look inviting to high handicappers thanks to it’s oversized head.
The Driver is absolutely massive and it has a huge sweet spot which stretches in every direction on the drivers ultra thin steel face.
The weighting is low and deep in the head which leads to a low CG and high MOI, meaning long, high and straight shots.
The driver has all the stability you would expect from a Callaway too with it’s internal jailbreak bars.
The driver has considerably offset too, so if you suffer from a slice, this one is going to be an excellent choice.
It’s pretty easy to start upping your drive distance with the first few swings of the Big Bertha B21 due to it’s massive head and deep weighting.
This can be considered a super game improvement driver that will help you take your game to the next level.

The Callaway Big Bertha B21 would be most beneficial for high handicappers who are looking for a driver that will help them produce straighter shots that actually make it onto the fairway.
The performance of the Callaway Big Bertha B21 is pretty straightforward – literally. It produces long, straight shots.
In fact, the Big Bertha was yielding an increase of distance for us by an average of 6 yards. Compare that to the average distance increase of 3 yards in the Titleist Tsi2.

However, you can take a look at older models which have a different footprint and head shape than the B21.
