Taylormade M6 Vs Ping G425 Irons Comparison And Review
In Golf, few brands stand out more than the likes of Ping and Taylormade.
M6 vs G425 is a case of an older but modern set vs a brand new set from Ping in 2021. The M6 are game improvement irons that are built for distance. They come with tons of the latest technology and are also forgiving.
Ping failed to release any irons in 2020 and the G425’s are a much anticipated upgrade to the G410’s. They have smaller, compact heads and forgiving loft and offer a consistent option with feel and forgiveness for slightly better players.
The M6 set are going to be ideal for beginners and better players alike. They offer distance and forgiveness in abundance for an excellent price.
Club Technology
The Ping G425’s come with variable face thickness for forgiveness on off center shots while 2 weights on the hosel and a visible screw at the front of the club head lower the COG for higher launches with the forgiving lofts. They also come with Arccos sensors included.
The Taylormade M6 irons was our first look at the speed bridge which allows for excellent ball speeds along with the speed pocket included in the club for maximum ball speed.
Coupled with the twist face speed injected face. Deep undercuts and a low COG allow for forgiveness and ball speed at the top of the market.
For us overall, the Taylormade M6 are excellent clubs for the average player or beginner. The ping G425’s are for people that know what they want in feel and forgiveness. Both are excellent, high end irons.

Ping G425 Irons – First Impressions
After taking 2020 off, the G425 Irons are a much anticipated upgrade to the G410’s and the first thing you notice with these irons is that the heads are smaller and more compact.
The irons incorporate two weights, a visible screw at the front of the clubhead and a weight in the hosel. This, coupled with the wide and cascading sole allows a quality ball launch angle.
Ping have gone for the metal wood style material for the first time in a set of irons and the variable face thickness allows for a lot of forgiveness and ball speed on any strike, even when you hit the ball off center.
They also have a multi material badge filling in the cavity at the back to dampen any vibrations on mishits.
The irons have a slight bit of offset for forgiveness but you are going to get plenty of feel from these especially from Irons you would classify as game improvement.
Taylormade M6 – First Impressions
The Taylormade M6 irons represented a significant break through in the world of golf with the introduction of the speed bridge which adds stability, ball speed and smooth impacts, even on mishits.
The sweet spot on the M6 is massive, allowing you to hit it straight and far consistently.
While there is excellent forgiveness in the clubs, they are certainly built for ball speed and distance and that is the main reason for the speed bridge and the Speed pocket on the underside of the club and filling in the cavity on the ball.
The face is ‘Speed Injection’ for an amazing connection with the ball and better distance.
A deep undercut and low COG allow an easy launch and the High MOI of the irons maximizes speed and performance.
Still, one of the best iron sets on the market, for sure.

Aidan Lehane here, I’m a Mid-low handicap golfer who has made tremendous progress in breaking 90 in just over 1 year of playing golf seriously.
I get out to the course or range as often as possible and review all the equipment I’ve come across on this blog.
