Taylormade M6 Irons Review – Are They Forgiving & Good for High Handicappers?

Taylormade M6 Irons

“The Taylormade M6 irons offer an interesting combination of low CG and face that is extremely forgiving.”

Taylormade M6 Irons Overview

“If you have been looking for a set of irons that will cover a multitude of mis-hits, the Taylormade M6’s are definitely worth a look.”

The Taylormade M6 irons feature one of the earliest iterations of the Speed Bridge which is essentially a brace that connects the sole to the top line behind the face.

This helps compensate for the face that flexes to a very high degree.

The result is stability without compromising face flex and ball speed. The Taylormade M6 irons are accurate across virtually the entire expanse of the face.

They feature inverted cone technology which improves flex out near the toe and the Speed Pocket which improves flex on low-face shots.

The only kind of mis-hits that really gave us trouble with these irons were shots above face-center.

Are the Taylormade M6 Irons Forgiving?

“In a word: very. The Taylormade M6 irons were clearly designed to maximize forgiveness across the face.”

These are cavity back irons that also have a nice, low CG. So if getting the ball airborne has been your issue, the Taylormade M6’s can certainly help.

The ball speeds we were achieving with these irons were also very impressive. Even our slower swing speed testers were able to up their ball speeds.

These are certainly some of the most forgiving irons in the entire Taylormade M series.

Are the Taylormade M6 Irons Good for Beginners & High Handicappers?

“Absolutely. They give high handicappers what they need most: excellent forgiveness and effortless distance.”

Most of our high handicap testers were marking improved apex height, ball speed and overall distance when using the Taylormade M6 irons – a clear sign that they will help improve your game as a beginner or high handicapper.

Should you Buy the Taylormade M6’s or the M4’s?

“The Taylormade M4 irons are another solid choice for beginners and high handicappers.”

One of the things we really liked about the Taylormade M4 set was that they feature pronounced offset.

This will help you close up the face a bit if you have a shot bias. The M4 irons have deep cavity backs but weaker loft profile than the Taylormade M6’s.

They launch really high;but we think the Taylormade M6’s would be better for high handicappers.

Taylormade M6 – First Impressions

The Taylormade M6 irons represented a significant break through in the world of golf with the introduction of the speed bridge which adds stability, ball speed and smooth impacts, even on mishits.

The sweet spot on the M6 is massive, allowing you to hit it straight and far consistently.

While there is excellent forgiveness in the clubs, they are certainly built for ball speed and distance and that is the main reason for the speed bridge and the Speed pocket on the underside of the club and filling in the cavity on the ball.

The face is ‘Speed Injection’ for an amazing connection with the ball and better distance.

A deep undercut and low COG allow an easy launch and the High MOI of the irons maximizes speed and performance.

Still, one of the best iron sets on the market, for sure.
