Taylormade M4 Vs Callaway Paradym Hybrid Comparison Overview

The Taylormade M4’s have been a staple since their inception in 2018.

The Callaway Paradym hybrid is the new kid on the block so to speak, as it was released this year, 2023. And if you’re in the market for a new hybrid, you may be wondering whether to go with the new or save some green and opt for an older model.

A hybrid club should be forgiving and give you the confidence you need to attack any lie. So in the following comparison overview, we will be going over the merits, shortcomings and performance aspects of the Taylormade M4 and the Paradym hybrid clubs.

Taylormade M4 Hybrid Overview

“The Taylormade M4 has compact shaping and behind the ball, it has a very iron-like profile.”

We really liked the looks of this hybrid and we liked the turf interaction even more. Whether you’re in the rough, semi-rough or on the fairway, the Taylormade M4 will help you pop the ball out and up with very little effort.

It has a rather flat sole that makes it easier to keep the club head above the turf. In terms of distance, it falls a bit short. It launches high in almost any condition and the spin rates are a little high as well.

Still, it has a very nice sound. It is also very forgiving. Really, the only place where a mis-hit is punished is the heel.

Callaway Paradym Hybrid

“The Paradym Hybrid features forward weighting which helps mute some of that spin we were seeing from the Taylormade M4.”

And if you need even more forgiveness, there is a Callaway Paradym X version that has a larger footprint and sweet spot. But back to the Callaway Paradym standard. It features a “Batwing” internal bracing bar design that makes the head very stable even on mis-hits.

We would say that low-face shots were still coming off with reduced launch and non-optimal spin rates; but everywhere else yielded optimal launch and spin conditions. The Callaway Paradym hybrid also played longer than the Taylormade M4 by an average of 5.7 yards.

“It can be boiled down to this: if you need cleaner contact from the rough, the Taylormade M4 is the better choice. If however, you are looking to attack the pin from the fairway, the Callaway Paradym hybrid is the way to go.”

“The Callaway Paradym Hybrid seems to solidify the overarching motif of the Paradym series: straight flight and accuracy.”

Taylormade M4 Hybrid First Impressions

We liked the simple design and look of the Taylormade M4 hybrids when we first opened them up.

We were pleased when we found out that playing them was as easy as it looked like it was going to be. All-in-all, the Taylormade M4’s may lack workability and a lot of the fancy features of more expensive hybrids; but they are certainly comfortable to swing and user-friendly.

The Taylormade M Hybrid Family

You aren’t confined to the M4 and M3 if you want to stick with Taylormade. The Taylormade M1 hybrids are some of the most versatile that the company makes.

The M1’s feature a rear, 27 gram sliding weight that you can position to the draw, neutral or fade positions. With an adjustable loft sleeve in tow, the Taylormade M1 is much more versatile than the M4 and M2 hybrids.

Callaway Paradym Hybrid – First Impressions

Callaway Paradym Hybrid2

“We were glad that all the logos and coloring were left on the sole.”

The crown looks clean at address which is good because so many new Callaway clubs have honestly looked a bit busy and distracting.

The Callaway Paradym Hybrid has a reassuring look at address as well because of the extended toe-to-heel length.

Callaway Paradyme Family

“If you’re looking for help with your slice, check out the Callaway Paradym X Hybrid.”

The Callaway Paradym X Hybrid is weighted to have a semi-draw bias. It also has more offset than the standard Callaway Paradym Hybrid.

For these reasons, it may be even more useful if what you really need is forgiveness.

Who is the Taylormade M4 Hybrid for?

The Taylormade M4 hybrid would be great for anyone looking for a combination of distance and forgiveness.

This is as classic a game-improvement hybrid as you’re likely to find. Distance and forgiveness are the main focuses here but another thing we really liked about these hybrids is that they are easy for pretty much anyone to pick up and play.

They have a familiar and confidence-inspiring feel and weight to them. Again, they are lacking in terms of workability and precision – we have even played longer hybrids. But will they benefit high handicappers and help them get to the green quicker? Absolutely. You can pick up the Taylormade M4 in 3H-5H.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Hybrid For?

Callaway Paradym Hybrid3

“We would say that this hybrid would be best for mid handicappers.”

We’re not sure what Callaway was thinking when they suggested that the Callaway Paradym Hybrid was best for mid to low handicappers.

Almost all of our low handicap testers mentioned that the Callaway Paradym Hybrid was pretty much unworkable.

And while it’s a good hybrid for moderate swing speed players, the launch is actually a bit too high to be favorable for players with 90+ MPH swing speeds.

Instead, the Callaway Paradym Hybrid seems ideal for mid handicappers with some good usefulness to high handicappers as well.

The Callaway Paradym Hybrid would also be a good hybrid to consider if what you need is straight flight.

The face feels really solid; but also a bit lifeless at impact. But we can overlook that in light of the stellar accuracy and comfortable turf interaction.

Distance: 94/100

Accuracy: 97/100

Forgiveness: 96/100

Feel & Control: 95/100

Overall Score: 96/100
