PXG and Cobra are somewhat underdogs when it comes to hybrids. The big hitters seem to take all the limelight, while they lurk in the shadows.

PXG is the Rolls-Royce of the golfing world, their clubs have a hefty price tag on them, with that also comes loads of technology.

Cobra also have loads of technology built into their clubs, unlike PXG, cobra have a very competitive pricing structure, which is generally slightly less than their competitors.

PXG 0317 Hybrid Overview

PXG 0317 X GEN4 hybrid is packed with technology. From the unique head shape to weight ports and carbon crown, it is built for distance and forgiveness.

The 0317 X hybrids feature a hybrid crown. The toe and heel areas have steel, which increases durability and stiffens up the face, this helps increase ball speed. The carbon fiber center helps them save weight and reposition it lower in the clubhead, this increases MOI and optimizes ball flight.

The Honeycomb TPE Insert is a vibration-dampening polymer; this technology gives the club a great feel and sound at impact. PXG have positioned it specifically in the sole of the clubhead, it also helps the center of gravity be extremely low.

The clubface is made from a HT1770 stainless steel, it is an ultra strong material that increases deflection for maximum ball speeds.

The PXG 0317 also has an adjustable hosel that can change the loft 1.5 degrees to optimize your flight and distance.

PXG 0317 Hybrid – First Impressions

PXG 0317 X GEN4 Hybrids look unbelievably good. The innovative head shape and face design makes this club look incredible when put behind the ball.

We felt from the get go that this hybrid definitely lives up to all the hype around it. Ball speeds were some of the highest we have seen, and it was incredibly forgiving.

The hybrid crown looks great and we could see the weight they saved from the top and put lower down in the head works great. The ball launched high on every shot, and we could stop the balls on the green with no issue.

The feel off the face was amazing, the forged face really makes a big difference here, and we just loved the adjustable loft sleeve, we could really dial in our distances and trajectories with it.

The PXG 0317 Hybrid Family

PXG have 2 other models in this family. First is the 0317 XF model.

It has a larger profile compared to the other models in the 0317 family, this will promote confidence at address, with the deep, squared face gives added forgiveness on off-center hits.

The other model is the 0317 Prototype, which is the low handicap model. It has a smaller head shape and is low spinning and launching. It has three weight ports in the sole that can be adjusted to change head weight, spin, and trajectory.

Cobra F9 Hybrid – First Impressions

The first thing we noticed is how it sits at address position, the head sits slightly closed, giving you the impression that the ball is going to go left.

However when we started hitting the F9 we did not find that the ball went left.

The forged face feels great when striking the ball, we could visually see the ball coming off the face with a lot of speed. The weight that is positioned low in the head and the addition of the 15g tungsten weight makes the ball launch incredibly easy, and we were shocked at how easy the ball stops on the green.

We really enjoyed the rails that are on the bottom of the club, it makes the club slide through the turf in all conditions.

We also loved the Arccos system, we do feel like you need them in every club to make the system worthwhile.

Cobra F9 Hybrid Family

The Cobra F9 comes in their famous one length option. The Cobra one length range is very interesting, led by Bryson DeChambeau who plays with one length clubs.

You have to have a specific swing if you want to use one length clubs. You need to have a one plane swing, as all the clubs are the same length, it requires you to swing on the same swing plane with every club.

The Cobra F9 One Length model has all the technology that the standard model would have. We highly recommend getting a fitting if you want to go with the One Length option, and get some input from your local Professiona
