PXG 0211 Driver Vs. PXG 0811 Comparison And Review

PXG is known for innovative technology and the 0811 and 0211 drivers are certainly no exception.

If you are looking for a premium feel and outstanding performance, you can’t do much better than PXG. Both the 0211 and 0811 drivers are loaded with features that will impress you after the first swing.

But which one is better for your game? Find out by reading our side-by-side comparison of the PXG 0811 and 0211 drivers.

PXG 0211 Driver Overview

The 0211 driver is made of premium materials that make a difference that you can feel on every swing.

The PXG 0211 driver corresponds with other clubs that bear the 0211 moniker in the sense that it was built for forgiveness and explosive ball speed. It features precision-weighting in back of the club head down in the sole to increase forgiveness.

This is nothing new in terms of drivers. However, what is unique is the carbon fiber/titanium crown which helps keep head weight down while adding resilience on full swings. The face is also made of a titanium alloy which increases reflex for more dynamic ball speed.

PXG 0811 Driver Overview

The PXG 0811 maintains a surprising amount of forgiveness in a driver that delivers low spin rates and high launch angles.

One of the most unique things about this driver is the face shape. The face is tall which makes it a bit difficult to get used to at first but helps reduce spin rate off the tee. The PXG 0811 also features an adjustable hosel for precision shot shaping.

The aluminum vapor process used to make this driver helps to increase stiffness in combination with the titanium alloy face.

Both the 0811 and the 0211 drivers deliver impressive feel and sound thanks to the premium materials used. However the 0811 features 3 weight ports in the sole to offset the changes you may make with the adjustable hosel. This provides more stability no matter how you like to shape your shots.

The PXG 0211 driver also features an adjustable hosel in a club that is a bit more forgiving than its 0811 counterpart.

PXG 0811 Driver First Impressions

At first glance, we could see that the shape of the 0811 driver face was unique. It was deep (or tall depending on how you want to put it) and made for excellent spin ratio.

Right off the bat, the PXG 0811 driver played long. It worked to dramatically reduce spin off the tee and produced high-arcing shots.

Carry distance was also impressive. To say that this driver played long would be an understatement. Still, for all the distance, the 0811 driver is surprisingly forgiving.

PXG claims that by using a robotic face polishing process, they were able to add a slight curvature to the face. This may be what enhances the spin correction at impact and the forgiveness of this driver.

The 0811 Family

The 0811 driver family also includes the 0811 X Proto driver. The X Proto is the more forgiving driver but it does produce significantly more spin than the standard 0811.

PXG 0211 First Impressions

We were excited to see an adjustable hosel in what is essentially meant to be an entry-level PXG driver (if such a thing exists).

After the first swing, we were taken aback at how soft and smooth this driver felt. We credit this to the railed sole design which increase MOI but also adds stability by bracing the heel and toe.

The honeycombed polymer insert in the head doesn’t hurt either. Plus, the fact that you can shape shots better with the adjustable hosel actually makes this driver a great value.

PXG 0811 Driver  – Who is it for?

This driver would be a good choice for anyone who is looking for a combination of distance and feel.

The minimal spin of this driver can’t be denied. The deep face works in conjunction with the low, back weighting to produce high-arcing shots that carry further.

This is also a surprisingly long driver for PXG. The sloped crown will help if you have a downward attack on your drives.

Of course, the PXG 0811 feels excellent. But we would expect nothing less from a PXG club.

PXG 0211 Driver – Who is it for?

The PXG 0211 driver is actually more forgiving than the 0811 so it would be more suitable for mid handicap players that need a little help with shot shaping.

We love the fact that PXG paired a high forgiveness driver with an adjustable hosel. While this driver still isn’t as forgiving as some Callaway and Taylormade entries, it is one of the most forgiving drivers that PXG has ever produced.

All in all we would say that this would be a suitable driver for a mid handicapper that already knows how to shape shots based on the nature of the hole.
