PXG 0211 Driver Vs. Callaway Rogue Comparison And Review

You wouldn’t think that a Callaway driver and PXG driver would have much in common. After all, PXG is known for making premium-grade drivers at premium prices.

And by now, the Callaway Rogue driver is dated.

However, the PXG 0211 driver is one of the companies most affordable and accessible to high handicappers. And in reality, they do have some key features in common.

Find out which would be the best choice for you in the following comparison article.

PXG 0211 Driver Overview

The PXG 0211 has some nice premium features but it’s tempered by the specs that were designed for mid to high handicappers.

One of the nicest things about this driver is the titanium alloy face. We were getting great ball speeds from it; not to mention a premium feel.

The face flexes to a high degree – but only if you can find the sweet spot which isn’t too expansive on this driver unfortunately.

Hitting around the crown or sole of this driver will produce a wild, short shot.

That all being said, the PXG 0211 also features an adjustable hosel which will make it easier for you to open or close up the face as needed.

Another thing we noticed about this driver is that we were getting good club head speed out of it. We attribute this to the carbon fiber hybrid crown that helps keep the weight of the head down.

Callaway Rogue Driver Overview

The Callaway Rogue is an older model but it parallels the PXG 0211 in a few key ways.

One parallel between the PXG 0211 and the Rogue is a carbon fiber crown. The Rogue features a full triaxial carbon crown which is actually lighter than the PXG 0211 but it is no less stable.

On full swings,  you are likely to get a straight shot out of the Rogue thanks to the internal Jailbreak bars.

The Rogue also has an adjustable hosel which is great for opening/closing the face; but also for adjusting launch angle as needed.

Both the PXG 0211 and the Rogue drivers were built for high launch and high MOI but overall, the Callaway was the more forgiving driver.

The hosel of the Rogue gave it a bit more versatility but the PXG 0211 had the better feel. The Rogue was more forgiving but if you can hit the sweet spot of the PXG 0211, it will play longer.

The Callaway Rogue driver combines lightweight design with impressive forgiveness and distance. This driver still has a lot to offer.

The PXG 0211 driver also features an adjustable hosel in a club that is a bit more forgiving than its 0811 counterpart.

Callaway Rogue Driver – First Impressions

At first, the Callaway Rogue has a massive head and sweet spot. The club was actually designed by Boeing so you expect serious aerodynamics with this one.

The Rogue was also very lightweight. The triaxial carbon crown feels airy but the head still feels substantial at impact thanks to the strong perimeter weighting.

The driver has a super thin face but is also variable thickness which adds to the forgiveness of the driver.

Perimeter weighting in the sole and the heel of the club stretches the sweet spot and the Rogue is one driver that does a lot in terms of forgiveness, accuracy and distance.

If you struggle with a slice, the Rogue also comes in a D style which is more offset to reduce errant strikes.

The Sub Zero form is also for those with high swings speeds looking for maximum distance.

The Rogue doesn’t go as far as the Epic Speed, but the forgiveness is comparable.

PXG 0211 First Impressions

We were excited to see an adjustable hosel in what is essentially meant to be an entry-level PXG driver (if such a thing exists).

After the first swing, we were taken aback at how soft and smooth this driver felt. We credit this to the railed sole design which increase MOI but also adds stability by bracing the heel and toe.

The honeycombed polymer insert in the head doesn’t hurt either. Plus, the fact that you can shape shots better with the adjustable hosel actually makes this driver a great value.

Callaway Rogue Selling Points

  • Perimeter weighting
  • High MOI
  • Triaxial carbon crown
  • Adjustable hosel
  • Variable Face Thickness
  • Forgiving design

PXG 0211 Selling Points

  • Exceptional MOI
  • Titanium alloy face
  • Adjustable hosel
  • Honeycomb polymer insert
  • Connective rails on the sole
  • Single heel-oriented weight port enhances forgiveness

Callaway Rogue – Who Are They For?

The Callaway Rogue driver would be a good choice for anyone who has grown comfortable with perimeter weighting.

We like the fact that the VFT face design couples nicely with the perimeter weighting. This combo makes for a very comfortable and forgiving driver.

However, the Rogue driver did not play as long as the Epic Speed which is pretty much what we predicted when we started out.

We were getting about 8-9 extra yards from the Epic Speed.

Still, the Rogue’s got it where it counts: good stability from the Jailbreak bars and a decent degree of forgiveness.

Surprisingly, it was also more workable than the Epic Speed

Callaway Rogue Family

The Rogue D Type is for the slicers among us. The is offset, giving the club a draw bias which can work to eliminate your slice.

The Sub Zero, leaves some of the forgiveness behind and it aimed at high swing speeds with good control over the driver, looking to squeeze more distance off the tee.

PXG 0211 Driver – Who is it for?

The PXG 0211 driver is actually more forgiving than the 0811 so it would be more suitable for mid handicap players that need a little help with shot shaping.

We love the fact that PXG paired a high forgiveness driver with an adjustable hosel. While this driver still isn’t as forgiving as some Callaway and Taylormade entries, it is one of the most forgiving drivers that PXG has ever produced.

All in all we would say that this would be a suitable driver for a mid handicapper that already knows how to shape shots based on the nature of the hole.
