The I530’s from Ping and the ZXi5’s from Srixon are both hollow body players distance irons that are built from explosive distance, consistency and a touch of forgiveness.
The both have forged faces a are filled with Urethane for premium feel.
They sit inbetween game improvement irons and players irons in terms of distance and forgiveness.
The have strong stable faces which are more compact than a beginners iron for more workability.
The i530’s were a good bit longer in our testing and the land angles were steeper while the ZXi5’s had more spin to hold the greens.
The i530’s do sound a little clicky and the ZXi5’s sound a little better.
The i530’s were superior in our testing by a little bit and it would be great to mix the i530 long irons with something more accurate in the scoring irons, especially for a mid to low handicapper.
Ping i530 Overview

the i530’s are Hollow bodied players distance irons with forged face and a more powerful look than the preceding i525’s.
The lofts have been strengthened and they are much stronger than the Srixon ZXi5’s.
We have a lower deeper COG than the i525’s and we get really good height with the irons and a steep land angle to catch the greens.
One problem you might face is the ball running off the back of the green with the low spin numbers.
This can be offset by going with something a little more player friendly in the short irons and wedges.
The soft polymer inside the irons makes for a better sound and feel but still a little clicky.
Overall, long powerful irons that are workable and have decent descent angles to catch the greens.
Srixon Zxi5 Irons Overview

The ZXi5’s have a super stable and strong steel mainframe which sports I Forged face 7% lighter than it’s predecessor.
The soles are little chunky for a mid handicap iron but the blades themselves are quite compact.
The forged feel and premium Urethane inside gives a nice solid feel, which isn’t as clicky as the i530’s.
We have progressive grooves and VT Tour sole design which cuts through the turf effortlessly.
We have tungsten weighting which stretches the sweet spot along the blade on these compact irons.
The ZXi4 players irons and the ZXi7 game improvement irons complete the series and mix and matching is encourage.
Overall a strong contender in a packed players distance iron category.
Overall Ping i530 Vs Srixon Zxi5
The i530’s were a good bit longer than the Srixon ZXi5’s and the descent angles on the greens were almost the same.
The Srixon’s had more spin on the balls to catch the greens but this is counteracted by the lower land angle.
The Srixons do sound better than the i530’s which does put off some players who dont like the clicky sounds of the ZXi5’s.
Overall the i530’s were the better irons for us overall but its quite close and always best to get a fitting to see what works best for you.

Ping i530 Irons – First Impressions

“They look similar to the i525’s but a little boxier and stronger looking. Then you get them on the trackman and they sound better and fly longer.”
The i530’s are a hollow body players distance iron aimed at mid handicap players who want to pin hunt from further out in the hopes of increasing the number of birdies they can get without sacrificing performance.
The back wall of the face has been thinned to increase smash factor, flex and forgiveness. The polymer inside the head ensures a powerful yet smooth sound and feel.
The lofts have been strengthened and the COG has been lowered and deepened to ensure more distance while keeping spin rates and stopping power at acceptable levels.
The heads do look nice and compact at address but there is enough club there to inspire confidence and produce impressive distances.
Extra grooves have been added to increase spin rates and overall they are a nice upgrade on the i525’s.

Srixon ZXi5 Irons First Impressions

“The Srixon Zxi5 irons do look premium off the bat. They have a clean players look while they are a little boxy and the top line is a little thick for this type of model.”
You can tell these irons are for mid handicappers who want speed because the power look of soles.
They use Main Frame technology in the head with a Sup10 Condense forged head which is 7% softer than previous model, delivering in terms of speed.
The tungsten weight in the heel and toe will produce forgiveness and feel on off center shots.
The Tour VT sole cuts through the turf with ease and also keeps the dispersion tight on shots low on the face.
The ZXi5 sits in the middle of the longer and more forgiving ZXi4 and the ZXi7 players iron which is for low handicappers who want to target the pins and work the ball with more control.
All these clubs can be mix and matched meaning you can have the ZXi4 and 5 in the longer irons and then the ZXi5 or ZXi7 in the scoring irons for more precision.
Overall, the ZXi5 are compact irons that will suit more consistent strikers who want a blend of forgiveness, workability and distance.
They offer a higher shorter flight than the ZXi4’s.

To put it simply, the i530 irons are mid handicappers who want more birdies and have their eyes on becomming low handicappers in the future.
It is a blade like iron with more forgivness and more distance. These sound and feel powerful and they also get a good descent angle due to the lower and deeper COG.
Added to that is the two extra grooves added to the face which gives stopping power and higher spin rates.
The clubs are for players who can hit the sweet spot consistently and rewards this consistency with accuracy and precision.
