Sometimes, you can only compare Ping irons to other Ping irons. Such is the case for the new Ping i525 irons. The Ping i525 irons debuted in the first quarter of 2022 and they have already created a buzz with their premium appointments that promise better performance for mid to low handicappers.
However, the Ping G710 irons bear a striking resemblance to their newest cousins. We thought it would be best to compare the Ping i525’s to the G710’s since there are so many similarities between the two. Which one can be relied upon for better performance? Find out below.
Ping i525 Irons Overview
The Ping i525 irons have a compact head which screams player’s performance.
However, some of the other features make the Ping i525 irons congenial for mid handicap players as well. For example, there is extreme perimeter weighting in the shaft tip and the toe screw. As you probably already know, side to side weighting greatly increases forgiveness.
Don’t get the wrong impression though; the Ping i525 irons aren’t for new players. They sport a muscle back design and the top line and offset are almost non-existent. They feel amazing with a maraging face and stainless steel body; but they really aren’t for beginners.
They really shine on short approaches as they launch plenty high and the milled grooves greatly control spin rates.
Ping G710 Irons Overview
Like the Ping i525 irons, the G710’s look amazing at first sight.
Then you take a few swings and you can feel the explosiveness of the maraging steel face. The G710 irons also have a stainless steel body. Surprisingly though, the perimeter weighting stops in the heel of these irons.
The Ping G710 irons have larger heads and more offset – clearly designed for higher handicap players – so we thought that they would have the super-extreme perimeter weighting, not the Ping i525 irons. The G710 irons also have a muscle back design and a hydropearl finish for repelling water.
The G710’s are longer than the Ping i525’s plain and simple. They are easier to hit with if you’re a mid handicapper but they don’t offer the same short game control that the Ping i525 irons do.
Both of these sets offer better performance but in different ways. The Ping i525 irons will help lower handicap players stick more greens while the G710 irons will provide more distance and forgiveness for higher handicappers.

Ping i525 Irons – First Impressions
The first thing to notice about the Ping i525 is the sleek looking players shape at address while the soles are still thick enough to offer distance and a towering ball flight.
The hollow body ‘Ballistic face’ construction hasd Polymer injected strategically on the inner side of the 14-7 stainless steel face for an enhanced sound and feel.
Perimeter weighting in the toe, with a visible screw and the shaft strectch the sweet spot and the face in dynamically created to deliver excellent balls speeds.
These irons feel and sound amazing but you are not going to get the same levels of feel as you will with the players irons.
Due to the higher launch and 4 extra grooves being added to the club, there is more workabilty in the longer irons and control in the shorter irons.
The player profile looks really nice in the i525’s at address, very similar to a players iron but it delivers on ball speed with the dynamic, miraging steel construction.
The hydropearl 2.0 ensures these irons perform well in wet as well as dry conditions and the additional flex in the face completes an excellent new set of Hollow Body Players Distance Irons.
Ping G710 First Impressions
The Ping G710 look impressive right out of the packaging and they continue to impress once you get them on the course.
The first thing you will notice about the Ping G710 irons is the sleek, black hydropearl finish. They also feel pretty substantial in the hand. You may also notice the notched hosel which helps create more discretionary weight to be placed for optimal distance.
The muscle-back design of these irons adds to the good looks and overall performance. This design also makes the Ping G710 irons extremely shapable while at the same time providing valuable feedback on mis-hits.
The head is also slightly larger than the precious G700 irons which may be a benefit for higher handicap players. The Ping G710 irons also feature variable face thickness so you get more distance on dead-center strikes and more forgiveness on shots around the crown and sole.
Combining high-performance maraging steel with the black hydropearl finish make these irons highly desirable for their looks and performance.

Who Are The Ping G710 Irons For?
The Ping G710 will suit a variety of performance needs whether you are a beginner or advanced player.
The great thing about these irons is that they provide a lot of value for a wide variety of players. Beginners will love the forgiveness and easy distance while more advanced players will love the high-arcing shots and shaping capability.
If we had to choose one specific group of players who could benefit the most from these clubs though, we’d have to pick beginners and high-handicappers.
They provide a bit more in terms of distance and forgiveness than they do accuracy and scoring.

The G series of irons is one of the most diverse lines of golf clubs currently on the market. The G700 will suit intermediate players looking to break into the low handicap region while the G710’s will be more congenial to beginners.
