Ping G440 Vs Srixon ZXi4 Irons
Today we are looking at two of the latest game improvement irons released in 2025 that will suit the slightly better players.
The G440’s are game improvement irons that had smaller and shorter heads than the previous G430’s. They still have a camouflaged thick top line and chunky soles however and offer a nice blend between distance and forgiveness.
The Srixon Zxi4 are hollow body irons that are a mix between Game Improvement and players distance irons. They are hollow bodied with i forged face. They sound and feel amazing off the face.
“The G440s are brand new for the 2025 season with a smaller head size and lower deeper COG. These irons are still thich and chunky for plenty of distance and forgiveness. Now also slightly more workable.”
The cavity on these irons is also smaller and they have a more player like head. They will attract more mid handicap players while the G770s will capture the super game improvement market with the super chunky heads.
The face is thinner which increases ball speeds and the weight savings are redistributed to lower and deepen the COG, for higher launch and more stopping power on the greens.
The Longer irons have longer shafts for more ball speed and distance and the longer irons can be mixed with more player friendly scoring irons.
The wedges have had a full redesign to emulate the Eye 2 wedges and they are much more workable.
This will appeal to mid handicapper who still want that extra Ping forgiveness.
Srixon ZXi4 Irons Overview
“The Srixon Zxi4 are new for the 2025 season and they have an i Forged face which produces and excellent sound and feel.”
The Srixons produce a lower, longer ball flight with less spin and less stopping power on the greens.
The have a mainframe design which saves weight and the saved weight is used to lower and deepen the COG. There is also tungsten bar low in the head to help with improving the descent angle to stop the ball on the green.
There is progressive grooves meaning the longer irons have less and the scoring irons have more to improve spin and accuracy.
Plenty of mid to low handicappers will favor the distance and forgiveness of these longer irons while going with something more accurate in the scoring irons.
Overall Comparison
The G440 is a more forgiving iron, it has a higher apex and more stopping power while still having a smaller head being more workable than the ZXi4. With the improved wedges, these will be a firm favorite with high to mid handicappers.
The ZXi4’s are more like hollow body players distance irons than game improvement while they still offer plenty of forgiveness. They have a lower apex height, less spin and less descent angle for less stopping power on the greens but still more distance than the G440’s. They also feel and sound amazing.
Plenty of high to mid handicappers will love the G440’s and plenty of mid to low handicappers will love the long irons from the ZXi4’s.

Ping G440 Irons First Impressions
The first thing to notice about the Ping G440’s is that the head has a much more player friendly profile with a shortened blade height and length. The face is thinner too and the Pur Flex Badge is visible smaller and less cavity like. The Top Line is still thick enough to inspire confidence but its also camoflaged to give that players friendly feel.
The longer irons have longer shafts which is great for distance and launch, especially if you are going with the power spec lofts. Plenty of Mid to Low Handicappers will fancy these Long Irons.
The visible Tungsten screw remains and this stretches the sweet spot along the face and you will barely notice any difference in performance when you slightly miss the center and the slight offset remains too to combat a slice.
The Hydropearl finish has also been upgraded and the result is irons that look a lot nice in the bag.
The G440’s are a worthy upgrade of the G430’s and will be extremely popular in 2025 and beyond.

Srixon ZXi4 Irons First Impressions
The first things to notice about the clubs is the premium finish and the player friendly head.
You can see that the offset is minimal but you do get the thick top line and sole for more forgiveness. On hitting the irons, you notice the beautiful sound and feel from the I forged face, which has gone through an extra stage of forging to improve the strength.
The metal is also lighter by 14% and the weight savings are relocated further back in the head to improve launch angle and spin.
The irons are very focused on distance and as a result there is a lower flight with less which may lead to less stopping power on the greens.
For this reason it may be wise to use the long irons in the ZXi4 and move to a more player friendly model in the scoring irons to get that extra spin.
The Tour VT sole offers a sharp leading edge to cut through the easily and their is progressively more grooves as you get into the scoring irons.
When you it slightly off center, there is almost no deviation in distance and accuracy.
Overall very impressed with these irons.
