Ping G440 Max  Vs Ping G430 10k Max Drivers Comparison Overview

Ping G440 Vs G430 Max Driver

Ping have been busy working on their drivers in recent years and have come to us with the Ping G430, the G430 10k Max and now the G440 drivers all in the space of 3 years for a brand that usually only releases 1 driver every 2 years.

Ping G430 10K Max Driver Overview

Ping broke the 2 year release model for the Ping G430 10k Max because they knew they had stumbled onto something extraordinary, a driver that truly hits the ball straight almost anywhere on the face.

The increase in consistency is in part down to the use of AI in building up there Variable roll radius face technology which really improves the dispersion and forgiveness of the driver.

The G430 10k Max also boasted a 10,000 MOI score for energy transfer between the club and the ball but we believe that has been beaten now by the G440 Max. The club has a relatively plain looking carbon fly wrap on the crown and the turbulators sit proudly above the straight looking club face which doesn’t appear to have a draw or fade bias.

The weight savings allow the COG to be pushed back further in the head and the forged face does sound a good bit better than the previous models. This driver has been fondly referred to as the cheat stick in many circles for its incredible distance, consistency and seemingly impossible low spin.

Ping G440 Max Driver Overview

Ping G440 Max Driver

The G440 has swapped out the green of the G430 for a calm and respectful blue coloured finish in the G440.

Ping Boasts an even deeper COG than in the previous models and they also have a thinner, more refined face to work with.

The free hosel design has saved 10gs of weight which has been repositioned further back in the club for a higher launch despite the stronger loft.

The carbon fly wrap and the turbulators remain in the design and there is a 29g back weight that can be set to neutral, draw bias or fade.

There is also 8 hosel positions available to tweak your performance exactly how you like it.

The sound is more quiet than the G425 and a little more laid back than the G430 but it is still a large and forgiving driver.

The magic starts when you hit a few balls with this driver.

It still manages to offer a high and towering ball flight but it now offers more ball speed and less spin than the G430 10k Max with the same exceptional forgiveness and 5 to 10 yards more distance.

Overall the G440 Max is a certain upgrade from the G430 and will find its way into many golf bags in 2025, you will probably even see it on the tour this year.

Ping G440 Max Driver – First Impressions

G440 Driver Max

“Ping have swapped out the Green of the G430 with a calm blue coloring in the G440.”

The G440 also comes in three versions, The Max, the SFT which has a draw bias and the LS which is low spin for the better players.

The Max is the focus of today’s review and this is a large driver that will inspire confidence at address.

The Carbon Fly Wrap and the Turbulators look almost identical to the G430 10k Max and the face remains straight at address.

The driver is highly adjustable with a tungsten weight at the back which can go into draw, fade and neutral mode and the free hosel design has 8 positions to choose from.

The free hosel design saves 10gs of weight which is redistributed to the back of the club and low in the head. Despit the loft being 9 degrees, you still plenty of launch angle because of this.

The stronger loft, thinner face and the spinsistency technology make the G440 Max one of the longest, straightest and most forgiving drivers on the planet.

This one improves on the G430 10k Max which was referred to as the “Cheat Stick” by many.

Ping G430 Driver – First Impressions

“The Ping G430 drivers have a noticeably different design than previous Ping G drivers.”

The face has a more shallow profile yet the crown and sole have a more rounded design. Overall the Ping G430 drivers look really unique. They also have the signature “ping” sound at impact which is really satisfying and lets you know when you’ve struck the ball perfectly.

We were also impressed that all three drivers in the new line come with movable weights. This will help a wide array of players who are struggling against a draw or a fade. It’ll also help you put more power behind the area of the face that you tend to make contact with.

The adjustable loft sleeve will also help you dial these drivers in during fittings. Ping did a good job of upping the adjustability element of the new Ping G430 so that they appeal to a wider array of players. Unless you have a handicap in the 0-5 range, the new Ping G430 driver can benefit your long game in one way or another.

Who is the Ping G430 Driver for?

“With three unique models, the Ping G430 drivers will appeal to a wide variety of players.”

It would seem that the overarching goal for these drivers was to make them viable for all skill levels. For the most part, Ping succeeded at this. The only type of player that we can imagine that wouldn’t benefit from these drivers are scratch players. The Ping G430 drivers launch high and don’t allow for a whole lot of workability.

So if you are a really good player, you’re better off looking elsewhere for a new driver. That being said, the Ping G430 drivers are ideal for both mid and high handicappers looking for a good mixture of forgiveness and accuracy.

We love the new forged face design because it will help virtually any kind of player achieve better ball speeds. The Ping G430 drivers will be especially beneficial to players who need more lateral forgiveness from their driver.
