Ping G440 Vs. Cobra DS Adapt Irons Comparison Overview
2 new game improvement irons for the 2025 season in the Ping G440’s and the CObra DS Adapt irons.
The Ping G440’s have been made more sleek and player friendly than the G430’s but they still offer the same distance, but with more accuracy and higher ball flight.
The Cobra DS Adapt irons have stronger lofts than the G440’s and thus fly longer and with a lower flight while still maintaining decent spin rates to stop the ball on the greens.
The G440 Overview
The G440’s are cavity back irons with large heads for forgiveness while offer plenty of distance and good consistency off the face.
You will get a lot of confidence with these behind the ball with the large head, thick top line and chunky soles.
You get the tungsten weighting in the heel and the toe and the variable face technology has been taken to the next level to deliver straight shots and tight distance dispersion on off center strikes.
The flight of the G440’s is beautiful with towering height, distance and excellent spin to stop the ball on the greens.
The longer irons have longer shafts to get the ball in the air more easily and to offer more distance.
The wedges now sport the Eye 2 wedge design also from the old Pings and a re more workable.
Overall, a good improvement in terms of forgiveness and distance. More height added from the G430’s but just as long.
Cobra DS Adapt Irons
Cobra have refined their Aerojet designs to produce the DS Adapt which is long, easy to hit and forgiving.
They are hollow body irons filled with soft urethane for impressive sound feel and maximum distance.
They have large heads and the PWR Shell face wraps more around the heel on toe of the club.
The H.O.T face has more sweet spots to tighten up the dispersion on off center hits.
The irons are also progressive with large headed long irons and more compact precise short irons.
They are inbetween the G440’s and the P790’s in terms of what they offer.
Less distance and higher flight with more spin than the P790’s with more forgiveness, but longer and lower than the G440’s and without as much consistency.
In terms of an outright match, the DS Adapt Max is more similar to the Pings but higher flighted and with more spin than the G440’s.
Ping G440 Vs Cobra DS Adapt Irons
Overall we like the Ping G440’s for that extra consistency and tighter distance dispersion to get up around the green more easily.
The DS Adapt will suit players who want a ton of distance and a straight shot down the middle without too much workability and control.
You can always mix and match too.
The Power Spec in the G440 long irons and regular in the short irons.
The Regular DS Adapt in the Long Irons and the max in the short irons for more precision.
We like the Pings in this one, maybe the DS Adapt Max irons will appeal to more golfers in 2025 than the regular Dark Speed Adapts.

Cobra DS Adapt Irons First Impressions
The first thing to notice about the Cobra Dark Speed Adapt irons is the large profile, decent design, the thick top line and the chunky soles.
The Power Shell face is noticeably larger and stretches further around the heel and toe of the clubs.
The hollow body construction now contains more urethane which helps increase the MOI and adds more distance while also generating a softer feel.
The vibrations are also considerably dampened while the speed bridge runs all along the bottom of the face to help with shots caught low and for players who tend to fat the ball.
The Hot Face technology has more data now and that is used to increase the amount of sweet spots across the face. The irons are quite forgiving on shots left and right of the sweet spot and when caught low.
Cpbra have utilised Tec Flow technology now so the long irons are longer and more distance oriented and the shorter irons are more concise with higher relative spin to attack the pins from 150 yards and in.
They have a ton of distance but also decent spin number which helps to catch the greens.
Overall very nice for high to mid handicappers looking for distance and forgiveness.
Ping G440 Irons
Category: Game-Improvement/Players Distance
Ping G440 Irons First Impressions
The first thing to notice about the Ping G440’s is that the head has a much more player friendly profile with a shortened blade height and length. The face is thinner too and the Pur Flex Badge is visible smaller and less cavity like. The Top Line is still thick enough to inspire confidence but its also camoflaged to give that players friendly feel.
The longer irons have longer shafts which is great for distance and launch, especially if you are going with the power spec lofts. Plenty of Mid to Low Handicappers will fancy these Long Irons.
The visible Tungsten screw remains and this stretches the sweet spot along the face and you will barely notice any difference in performance when you slightly miss the center and the slight offset remains too to combat a slice.
The Hydropearl finish has also been upgraded and the result is irons that look a lot nice in the bag.
The G440’s are a worthy upgrade of the G430’s and will be extremely popular in 2025 and beyond.
