Ping G440 Max Vs Titleist GT2 Drivers Comparison Overview

Ping G440 Vs Titleist GT2

One of the best of 2025 takes on the driving king of 2024 in today’s review. Its the Ping G440 Max vs The Titleist GT2 drivers to see who takes the crown as the number 1 forgiving driver of 2025.

Ping G440 Max Driver Overview

Ping G440 Driver Max 2 Ping broke its two year release cycle for the G430 10k Max because they knew they had something special.

One thing about it was the distance was a little shorter despite having forgiveness that was envied by the other brands.

Ping have now brought the forgiveness of the 10k Max and added more speed to the equation for the G440. They have tackled this by incorporating a free hosel design which saves 10g’s of weight which redistributed to make the COG lower and deeper for increased speed.

The Carbon Fly Wrap remains as do the turbulators but the green of the G430 has been replaced by a calm blue in the G440. And you should be calm if you can hit every driver like us, with the G440 Max. There is a 25g weight at the back of the club with 3 positions. Neutral, Draw and Fade.

The extra distance does make a good improvement and the Variable Roll Face Technology does the same amazing job at accuracy. Overall a worthy replacement to the G430 10k Max.

Titleist GT2 Driver Overview

Gt2 Titleist

The Titleist TSR2 was a cracking driver that was undoubtedly one of the best on the market and the Titleist R&D team set out to make it even better in the GT2.

Titleist have avoided using carbon until now because of the sound and sighting a lack of improvement gains. They have now come up with a Proprietary Matrix Polymer for the crown which is hand finished for a seamless integration with the rest of the club.

This allows for a reduced drag, improved aerodynamics and it saves weight which the split mass positioning system uses to lower and deepen the COG in this forgiving model. The Speed Ring Variable face technology has also been improved to offer straight distance anywhere on the face with a marked improvement over the TSR2 when you catch the ball flush in the middle.

There’s a removable weight at the back of the club and hosel adjustment system is excellent for dialing the club in to your exact swing. The driver sounds and performance amazing in our testing with almost the same distance as the GT3 and GT4.

Whats remarkable is that it gave the most carry, total distance in our testing but with a higher flight and lower spin than most drivers. While other drivers struggle with sound, the Titleist driver retains it’s classical metal sound that feels amazing and rings in the air like the high ball flight.

Titleist GT2 Vs Ping G440 Max Performance

Both drivers are incredibly forgiving. We found it difficult to miss the fairway from anywhere on the face with both drivers.

In terms of overall performance, the Titleist was a little longer and with less spin of the face despite the launch angle being slightly higher. It’s almost impossible to split the drivers on distance dispersion and it looks like these are the number 1 and 2 drivers on the market right now.

Make sure to test both before committing to either.

Titliest GT2 – First Impressions

GT2 4

“The GT2 looks amazing with the gloss black colouring and we see the elongated head which is longer from back to from to keep the weight lower and further back..”

Titleist really dominated with the TSR2, so it was a big job to improve on it, but they have managed the job well. The best kept secret about the GT2 is the Proprietary Matrix Polymer crown which is hand finished to ensure no join lines and it rolls seemlessly into other parts of the club. Titleist say, this reduces drag, improves aerodynamic and also saves weight.

The saved weight is used in a split mass positioning system which keeps the cog low and deep. There is also a removable weight at the back of the head to dial this club in to your exact needs. The Speed ring VFT worked extremely well in the TSR2 but not as much when you caught it flush.

The GT2 improves on this with even more sweet spots in the face and optimal ball flight. The flight is high on the GT2 but the smash factor was also the best among the 2024 and 2025 drivers. You get a higher launch, steeper decent angle, less spin, more carry and more total distance. A really great performing driver.

Titleist avoided Carbon until now because the weight savings were offset by the components to hold it in place, but also the sound. The GT2 sounds like a classic Titleist driver with a crisp powerful sound that hangs in the air nearly as long as the beautful ball flights.

Ping G440 Max Driver

Ping G440 Driver 2

In 20 Words or Less

The Ping G440 Max has a lower and deeper COG than the G430 10k Max and offers an increase in distance and a reduction in speed despite a stronger loft.

Ping G440 Max Driver – First Impressions

G440 Driver Max

“Ping have swapped out the Green of the G430 with a calm blue coloring in the G440.”

The G440 also comes in three versions, The Max, the SFT which has a draw bias and the LS which is low spin for the better players.

The Max is the focus of today’s review and this is a large driver that will inspire confidence at address.

The Carbon Fly Wrap and the Turbulators look almost identical to the G430 10k Max and the face remains straight at address.

The driver is highly adjustable with a tungsten weight at the back which can go into draw, fade and neutral mode and the free hosel design has 8 positions to choose from.

The free hosel design saves 10gs of weight which is redistributed to the back of the club and low in the head. Despit the loft being 9 degrees, you still plenty of launch angle because of this.

The stronger loft, thinner face and the spinsistency technology make the G440 Max one of the longest, straightest and most forgiving drivers on the planet.

This one improves on the G430 10k Max which was referred to as the “Cheat Stick” by many.

Who is the Titleist GT2 for?

Gt2 Titleist

“This is the most forgiving of the range but it can be used by any level of golfer. Mainly for high to mid handicappers.”

The Titleist R&D team can give themselves a pat on the back for this one and it will continue Titleists dominance in the driver space.

A driver that sounds and feels amazing but alos produces long, straight high flights with slow spin and unbeatable distance. It doesnt get much better than this.

The Speed Ring VFT really fires the ball straight from anywhere but you do get a little extra boost in the middle of the face that you didnt get with the TSR2.

Add that to the adjustable weight at the back and the excellent hosel adjustment season and it’s hard to see how any other driver can take ont eh GT2 in 2024/2025 and win.
