Ping G440 Vs Taylormade Qi35 Max Drivers Comparison Overview
The latest drivers from Ping and Taylormade go head to head today in today’s review, it the G440 Max from Ping vs the Qi35 Max from Taylormade.
Ping G440 Max Driver Overview
The G440 from Ping comes in three flavors. The Max which will suit most golfers offers amazing consistency and forgiveness anywhere in the head with low to moderate levels of spin.
The SFT version will suit high handicapppers who suffer from a slice and the LS version is perfect for mid to low handicappers who want a smaller profile with less spin and more distance.
The G440 Max is the subject of today’s review and this club utilises a free hosel which frees up 10gs if weight which allows the COG to be repositioned lower and further back in the club face. The result is that Ping can use a lower loft and generate more distance with the same height while keeping spin low.
The head is huge and forgiving in the max and the face is straight address without a draw or fade bias. You can reposition the 29g weight to be neutral, draw or fade bias and the thinner face has spinsistency technology to keep the ball straight from almost any mishit.
The g430 10k Max was considered one of the straightest in golf history and the G440 Max builds on that while also adding extra distance. An excellent driver that will be very popular in 2025 and beyond.
Taylormade Qi35 Max Driver Overview
The Taylormade QI35 comes in 4 different flavors.
The standard QI35 will suit most golfers with an adjustable weight to et the club up exactly as you like. The QI35 Max which is the discussion of today’s review. The QI35 Low Spin which has a smaller profile and offers more distance and less spin. The QI35 Max Light for seniors and slow swing speeds.
Today we are testing the G440 Max vs the Taylormade Qi35 Max for a direct comparison and it is a close one. Taylormade have utilised a lot of light weight carbon in their design which looks amazing and saves weight which allows for the 10k MOI design. The face is Carbon too except it is now black instead of red as it was in the stealth and it looks better.
The sound of the driver is more powerful and crisp than the Ping G440 Max. We have still got the twist face technology on the face which aims to keep the ball moving straight from contact anywhere across the face. Taylormade have claimed to have found the perfect sweet spot for the COG to optimise launch, distance, spin and forgiveness. it is a little lower and further back.
G440 Max Vs Qi35 Max Testing
During our testing we found the G440 Max to be a little bit better in terms of more distance, slightly lower spin and more forgiveness across the face.
No matter where we hit the ball it always managed to go straight. The Qi35 Max was also a great driver that was going straight most of the time. We did have a good few more missed left and right with the Qi35 but we managed to catch the fairway still on nearly every strike.
There’s almost nothing between the two options and the Taylormade did sound better. Also keep in mind that QI35 standard model will suit a lot of golfers.
Taylormade Qi35 Max Driver
In 20 Words or Less
A Large Profile with a beautiful carbon design and a black twist face coupled with premium performance in Distance, Spin And Forgiveness.
Taylormade Qi35 Max Driver – First Impressions
“The Black Carbon Twist really stands out as a premium looking driver and the Carbon Crow And Sole Screams, Hit Me.”
The QI25 Max is a driver you can pick straight off the rack and put into play and it has no adjustable weights to play around with and optimise for your particular strike. Indeed the standard version has lower spin and is almost just as forgiving.
Taylormade have managed to get this driver up to 10k MOI by lowering and deepening the COG for optimal launch and forgiveness.
The Crown and sole of the driver is wrapped in Carbon to reduced the weight and it also looks great at addres with a big forgiving profile and a massive face.
Twist face technology is used in the black carbon face to keep shots moving straight, long and far.
There is a fixed 34g weight at the back of the club that is not adjustable so minus changing the shaft, this is very much an off the rack driver.
There is a toss up between the QI35 and the QI35 Max which are very close in terms of performance and maybe Taylormade only needed to release one of these drivers in 2025.
Overall a very nice drive that sounds amazing and delivers on its promises of max distance and max forgiveness.
Ping G440 Max Driver
In 20 Words or Less
The Ping G440 Max has a lower and deeper COG than the G430 10k Max and offers an increase in distance and a reduction in speed despite a stronger loft.
Ping G440 Max Driver – First Impressions
“Ping have swapped out the Green of the G430 with a calm blue coloring in the G440.”
The G440 also comes in three versions, The Max, the SFT which has a draw bias and the LS which is low spin for the better players.
The Max is the focus of today’s review and this is a large driver that will inspire confidence at address.
The Carbon Fly Wrap and the Turbulators look almost identical to the G430 10k Max and the face remains straight at address.
The driver is highly adjustable with a tungsten weight at the back which can go into draw, fade and neutral mode and the free hosel design has 8 positions to choose from.
The free hosel design saves 10gs of weight which is redistributed to the back of the club and low in the head. Despit the loft being 9 degrees, you still plenty of launch angle because of this.
The stronger loft, thinner face and the spinsistency technology make the G440 Max one of the longest, straightest and most forgiving drivers on the planet.
This one improves on the G430 10k Max which was referred to as the “Cheat Stick” by many.
