Ping G440 K Vs Ping G440 Max Driver Comparison And Review

TL:DR Overview
The G440 K and G440 Max are both ultra forgiving drivers from Ping but they’re aimed at different types of golfers who need help with accuracy.
The G440 Max was longer in our testing with higher launch and more total distance making it the better choice for most golfers.
The G440 K has a stronger draw bias and heavier adjustable weight making it ideal for golfers who battle a slice.
Both drivers are exceptionally forgiving with excellent sound and feel but the Max offers better value while the K targets a more specific problem.

Ping G440 K Overview Whats New For 2026

The G440 K brings back the 10,000 MOI concept that Ping pioneered and adds adjustability that wasn’t possible in previous ultra high MOI models.
The standout feature is the massive 32 gram adjustable back weight which is 4 grams heavier than what you got in the G430 Max 10K. This weight can be shifted to create draw, neutral or fade biased flight paths depending on what your swing needs.
Ping has used their Dual CarbonFly Wrap technology on both the crown and sole to save weight, and the Free Hosel design shaves even more grams off the hosel area. All that saved weight gets pushed low and back for maximum forgiveness.
The T9S+ refined VFT face is thinner and flexes more for faster ball speeds across a larger sweet spot. The head itself is a full 460cc with a longer front to back profile that pushes the CG deeper than any Ping driver before it.
Sound and feel have improved massively over older Ping models. You get a loud titanium crack at impact that’s aggressive without being harsh, and you can feel the face flex even on off center hits.
The static draw bias is really strong, during testing it was surprisingly difficult to miss right which is exactly what slice fighters need.
For golfers who struggle with a slice and want maximum stability the G440 K delivers forgiveness that really does fight against those right misses.
Ping G440 Max Overview

The G440 Max has been getting serious buzz from club fitters with some calling it driver of the year for 2025 and after testing it I can see why.
Ping has used their Carbonfly Wrap crown technology which is the lightest crown they’ve ever made, dropping the head weight by about 7 grams compared to the G430 Max 10K. That weight saving means you can use standard shafts without needing counterbalancing which opens up way more fitting options.
The face is the shortest and thinnest Ping has ever produced creating faster ball speeds across a massive sweet spot area. Its a 460cc head with MOI just under 10K but the forgiveness genuinely feels like it rivals drivers with higher MOI numbers.
You get a 29 gram movable weight with 3 positions for shot shaping plus an 8 position hosel that lets you adjust loft up or down 1.5 degrees and tweak the lie angle too.
The matte black crown with subtle grey graphics and blue accents gives it a really classy understated look at address that inspires confidence without being garish.
Sound is a muted mid bass thwack that’s pleasing and avoids any metallic harshness. The Carbonfly Wrap crown does a brilliant job dampening vibrations while keeping things responsive.
Small misses perform almost identically to centered strikes which is exceptional for anyone whose swing isn’t perfectly grooved. Launch is high with moderate spin that stays consistent across the whole face.
The draw bias is very neutral compared to the K model so it suits a wider range of players without needing as much tweaking.
Key Design Differences Between G440 K and G440 Max
The big difference is the G440 K uses Dual CarbonFly Wrap on both the crown and sole while the Max only has it on the crown with a traditional titanium sole.
The K has that heavier 32 gram adjustable weight compared to the 29 gram weight in the Max. Those extra 3 grams plus the placement options make the K more customizable for shot shaping.
MOI wise the G440 K exceeds 10,300 making it the most stable Ping driver ever built. The Max sits just under 10K but honestly the forgiveness difference on course is pretty minimal.
The K has a longer front to back profile and a deeper lower CG than the Max giving it that extreme stability and draw bias.
Sound differs too with the K producing a louder titanium crack while the Max has that muted mid bass tone. Both are pleasant but appeal to different preferences.
Price wise the G440 K retails around $649 while the G440 Max comes in at $549 making the Max significantly better value.
Overall Performance Comparison Ping G440 K Vs G440 Max
The performance numbers tell an interesting story with the G440 Max producing slightly faster ball speeds and significantly more distance in testing.
The Max launched over a degree higher at 12.8 degrees compared to 11.6 degrees for the K despite both drivers producing identical spin at 2768 rpm. That higher launch translated to nearly 4 feet more apex height.
Carry distance favoured the Max by over 8 yards and total distance showed a 9 yard advantage. The Max just gets the ball up easier and carries it further which will benefit most golfers.
Ball speed was marginally quicker with the Max at 159.2 mph compared to 158.9 mph for the K. Not a huge difference but every bit counts.
Where the K excels is in dispersion control for golfers who miss right. Testing showed it stayed within a tight window even on poor swings thanks to that draw bias and massive MOI.
The Max is more versatile launching higher with better distance for golfers who don’t specifically battle a slice. The neutral bias means it works for more swing types without needing as much adjustment.
Both drivers are exceptionally forgiving with large sweet spots that preserve ball speed on mishits. You’d be hard pressed to find more forgiving drivers from any manufacturer.
Which Driver Should You Choose
Choose the G440 K if you have a consistent slice or right miss and need a driver that actively fights against that tendency.
The draw bias and adjustable 32 gram weight give you tools to straighten out your ball flight while maintaining exceptional forgiveness.
The K also suits golfers who want the absolute maximum MOI available and don’t mind paying a premium for that extra stability.
Choose the G440 Max if you want the best all round performance with higher launch, more distance and better value. The Max is more versatile working for a wider range of swing types and the lighter head opens up more shaft fitting options.
The Max also makes sense if you prefer a more neutral look at address without the strong draw bias built into the K.
Both drivers deliver elite forgiveness and consistency but the Max edges it for most golfers thanks to better distance numbers and a lower price point. The K is the specialist option for slice fighters who need that draw bias to keep it in play.

Category – Game Improvement/Max Forgiveness
In 20 Words or Less
The G440 K combines massive 10,000 MOI forgiveness with adjustable draw bias technology, making it incredibly difficult to miss right.
Ping G440 K Driver First Impressions

My first impression was this thing is absolutely massive, even bigger looking than the G430 Max 10k which was already huge.
The head has a longer profile from front to back and sits with a slightly closed face angle at address which gives it that draw biased look. If you struggle with a slice this is going to inspire confidence before you even take a swing.
The turbulators are still there on the crown which I know divides opinion but I find them helpful as an alignment aid. Sound wise its got that loud titanium crack but its actually more pleasing than previous Ping models that got criticized for harsh noise.
You can feel the face flex happening even on off center hits which is impressive for a driver this forgiving. What really stands out is the 32g adjustable back weight which is 4g heavier than what was in the G430 Max 10k.
This is a proper innovation because you can shift the CG for draw, neutral or fade shots which you just couldnt do with previous 10,000 MOI drivers.

Who is the Ping G440 K Driver for?
This driver is made for high to mid handicappers who struggle with shots leaking right and want maximum forgiveness.
The static draw bias combined with the 10,000 MOI means its incredibly difficult to produce a slice with this club. During testing I was actively trying to hit it right and the driver just wouldnt cooperate, it wants to go straight or slightly left.
The adjustable back weight is brilliant because you can configure it for your particular shot shape. If you need more draw help you can shift the weight, if you want neutral flight you can do that too.
Ball speed retention on mishits was excellent. Off center strikes that would normally cost serious distance only lost a fraction of that with the G440 K. The larger sweet spot and face flex was noticable across more of the face.
One thing to watch out for is if you predominantly miss left this probably isnt your driver. The draw bias is strong and could make those left misses worse.
The Dual CarbonFly Wrap and Free Hosel technology save weight from the crown, sole and hosel which all gets reinvested into that adjustable back weight for maximum MOI.
Its clever engineering that you can actually feel working when you hit it. Distance was very good though there was a slight loss when the driver was working hard to control spin and keep things straight.
But thats a tradeoff most players struggling with accuracy will happily make. This is faster and more forgiving than the G430 Max 10k with better sound and feel.
The adjustability separates it from other ultra high MOI drivers and proves that this category is still evolving and getting better.

“Ping have swapped out the Green of the G430 with a calm blue coloring in the G440.”
The G440 also comes in three versions, The Max, the SFT which has a draw bias and the LS which is low spin for the better players.
The Max is the focus of today’s review and this is a large driver that will inspire confidence at address.
The Carbon Fly Wrap and the Turbulators look almost identical to the G430 10k Max and the face remains straight at address.
The driver is highly adjustable with a tungsten weight at the back which can go into draw, fade and neutral mode and the free hosel design has 8 positions to choose from.
The free hosel design saves 10gs of weight which is redistributed to the back of the club and low in the head. Despit the loft being 9 degrees, you still plenty of launch angle because of this.
The stronger loft, thinner face and the spinsistency technology make the G440 Max one of the longest, straightest and most forgiving drivers on the planet.
This one improves on the G430 10k Max which was referred to as the “Cheat Stick” by many.
