Ping G425 Vs. Taylormade Stealth Fairway Wood Comparison Overview

The Ping G425 and Taylormade Stealth fairway woods share some key technologies that make them both a viable options for mid to high handicappers. But beyond the similarities, there are performance differences that you need to know about before making a decision between the two.

While both of these fairway woods have something to offer casual golfers, you still need to know the details to make sure you get the most bang for your buck. So if you are considering either of these clubs, read on to find out which one would perform better for your needs.

Ping G425 Fairway Wood Overview

The Ping G425 fairway wood is very forgiving thanks to a steel face wrap design.

The steel used for the face of this club is very thin, responsive and resilient. Then, Ping wrapped it into the head of the club so that basically the entire face is the sweet spot. More sectors of the face work to promote fast ball speeds making this club a great choice for anyone lacking consistency and accuracy.

The Ping G425 fairway wood also features a slight face curvature similar to the Twist Face design of the Taylormade Stealth and other Taylormade models. This feature increases loft on low-face strikes and promoted better spin control on high-face strikes.

Then there is the Tungsten sole weight which promotes high launch. Overall, the Ping G425 is a forgiving fairway wood that will help you get the ball high in the air, yield great carry distance and is very forgiving.

Taylormade Stealth Fairway Wood Overview

The Taylormade Stealth sports the Twist Face design, a V-steel sole panel and C300 steel face material.

The V-steel panel does the same thing as the tungsten sole weight of the G425: pulls the club head down on the downswing. The result? Nearly effortless launch. The Twist Face feature also helps to straighten out low or high-face hits.

However, forgiveness is significantly increased by the Taylormade Stealth wood thanks to a larger head profile. The 3-wood of the Stealth series has a 190CC head compared to the 176CC head of the Ping G425 3-wood.

If you are in need of a fairway wood that would be viable from a wide variety of lies, the Ping G425 may be best for you as it was more workable overall. However, if you need good forgiveness and a fairway wood that performs more like a traditional wood, the Taylormade Stealth is for you.

Ping G425 Fairway Wood First Impressions

We were very excited to start swinging with these woods.

They were big, beefy and we could tell right away that they were gonna play long. We’re glad to report that we were not wrong.

The Ping G Family of Woods

Included in the prestigious G family of fairway woods from Ping is the G400. This is the superior G wood if you are looking to hit more greens from distance as it launches incredibly high thanks to a machined tungsten weight.

TaylorMade Stealth Fairway – First Impressions

The name gives it away on the club, at address position this thing looks mean. We all felt extremely comfortable when putting the club behind the ball. The new laser alignment clearly is working.

We tested it from many different lies, and we are safe to say the V Steel technology is incredible, on almost every shot the club just slides through any lie. The V Steel plus TwistFace is a game changer for us. The combination of these two features makes it very hard to miss a fairway.

We definitely saw some extra ball speed and distance compared to previous models from TaylorMade.

We just didn’t enjoy that it wasn’t adjustable.

TaylorMade Stealth Fairway Family

TaylorMade has an additional model to this range called the Stealth Plus, this features their Titanium model. It is the lower spinning option between the two heads.

Most of the features are the same compared to the Stealth model.

The V Steel on the sole has a 80g tungsten weight, this gives you forgiveness while improving turf interaction and versatility.

The face of the fairway is made from titanium, this allows TaylorMade to make the face extremely thin for extra ball speed and distance, and we love that it is adjustable, it has a +-2 degree loft sleeve, allowing you to get really dialed in.
