Ping G425 Vs Cobra Radspeed Hybrids Comparison Overview
Hybrid clubs have been the saviors of mid and high handicap players – not to mention many pros – for the past couple of decades.
They are easier to hit than your longer irons and driving irons and give you better launch.
And in the realm of hybrid clubs, two companies really stand out: Ping and Cobra. The Ping G425 hybrid clubs are more of your traditional hybrids while the Cobra Radspeed hybrids offer something a little more unique…
Ping G425 Hybrid Overview
“The Ping G425 hybrids are available from 2H to 7H.”
The Ping G425 hybrids have a traditional design emphasis on forgiveness. They have a wrap-around face that blends seamlessly into the crown and sole.
This design allows for more flex pretty much all over the face.
So in effect, more of the face becomes the sweet spot. The Ping G425 delivers the perfect sweeping motion that players seeking more forgiveness are looking for – as opposed to the downward swing you need with irons.
The Ping G425 hybrids also feature adjustable loft sleeves and tungsten weights in the sole for added forgiveness.
Cobra Radspeed Hybrids Overview
“The Radspeeds introduce split weight technology to hybrid clubs.”
Split weight refers to forward-biased weighting coupled with a traditional rear weight. The front weight is 12 grams while the back weight is 7 grams.
This essentially neutralizes spin. The result: balls that fly further.
In fact, after three swings with the Radspeed 4H, our testers were getting an average 7 yard boost over the Ping G425 hybrid.
The hollow rails on the bottom also allow for more overall flex. Of course, this led to more erratic flight paths.
You have to be more accurate with the Cobra Radspeed hybrids in order to unlock their full distance potential.
Unlike the Ping G425’s the Radspeed hybrids have a forged face insert as opposed to the full wrap-around face design of the 425’s. This means that shots around the perimeter of the face are generally more errant.
Still, when you pure the ball with the Radspeed hybrids, it feels amazing. The forged face insert is thin and gives a satisfying “thwack” at impact.
“If you are looking for maximum forgiveness, the Ping G425 hybrids are the better choice. They have the more traditional hybrid feel and overall performance. If you are a bit more confident in your accuracy and want more distance, try the Cobra Radspeed hybrids.”

You can feel the technology on every hit, the club just slides through the turf. The ball speed is incredible.
Ping G425 Hybrid First Impressions
The Ping G425 will impress you with the way it looks right away.
The sleek, matte black design of the head begs to be swung. You come for the looks; but you’ll stay for the feel of the maraging steel face. The Ping G425 is available in 2h-7h.
The Ping G425 hybrid clubs can also be adjusted at the hosel for lie and loft so it’s pretty versatile overall.
The G Hybrid Family
You can also pick up the Ping G410 hybrid which allows for a wide range of loft and lie adjustability thanks to the TrajectoryTuning hosel. It’s also a bit more forgiving than the G425.
Like the Ping G425 hybrid, the Ping G410 hybrid clubs feature tungsten rear weights. However, it places a higher emphasis on perimeter weighting which again, makes them a bit more forgiving than the Ping G425 hybrids. They are available in 2H-6H.
Cobra Radspeed Hybrid First Impressions
At address position, we love the way the hybrid sits on the ground, the paint lines and face line up fantastically giving you confidence when standing over the ball.
We loved the way the hybrid interacted with the turf, on every shot it felt like the club went through the ground with ease. This is due to the hollow rails in the Radspeed. It creates up to 70% more flex on the sole of the club creating a higher launch and more speed.
You could feel the front-biased radial weighting working, as the forgiveness was incredible.
The feeling off the face was something we have never felt. The forged face really does work, and makes every shot feel fantastic.
The Cobra Hybrid Family
The Cobra Radspeed also comes in a one length option. The Cobra one length range is very interesting, led by Bryson DeChambeau on the PGA Tour who plays with one length clubs.
The one length concept is great, but you have to have the swing to match it. Your swing has to be on one plane, if it is not, your longer and shorter irons will become impossible to hit.
All the same technology you find in the standard Cobra Radspeed Hybrids are also in the One length versions.

Who is the Ping G425 Hybrid for?
The Ping G425 would be best used by advanced players who are able to hit the green from nearly anywhere on the fairway.
What we really liked about the Ping G425 hybrid clubs was the consistent spin control. If you are able, you can decrease spin on longer approaches and increase on shorter approaches.
If you are looking for some hybrids that will help you reach the pin faster then the Ping G425’s would be a great fit for you.
That all being said, the Ping G425 hybrid is certainly not the most forgiving hybrid club out there.
It would certainly help to practice a bit of honest discernment before you commit to buying the Ping G425 Hybrid as it will surely cause some frustration if you are still floundering in the high handicap range.
