Ping G410 Vs. Taylormade Stealth Driver Comparison Overview

In the near future, we think the debate between carbon fiber and forged metal in golf clubs will not only arise; but become rather heated. Taylormade has pioneered such a stark innovation that it has to be discussed. We have tested it against forged-face drivers before and the feel still defies description.

We forge ahead though (pun definitely intended) as we put the carbon fiber/polyurethane face of the Taylormade Stealth driver against yet another forged-face Ping driver: the Ping G410. Take a look at what we found.

Ping G410 Driver Overview

The Ping G410 driver is incredibly versatile with a sliding rear weight and adjustable hosel.

With the G410, Ping was certainly looking to cover a multitude of bias sins in a game improvement driver. One thing we really liked about the Ping G410 in comparison to the Taylormade Stealth driver was the fact that it suited the needs of almost all the testers in our party.

The Ping G410 also sports a forged titanium face insert which feels solid and satisfying at impact. You also get plenty of feedback with this forged insert. However, we were a bit disappointed with the lack of spin control in the G410.

Even the better testers in our party were having difficulty adjusting to reduce spin off the tee. As a result, the Taylormade Stealth driver tended to play longer.

Taylormade Stealth Driver Overview

The Taylormade Stealth driver was workable and comparably versatile even without a sliding rear weight.

It should be mentioned though that this driver does have an adjustable hosel. The curvature of the face makes for robust spin conditions and forgiveness on low-face shots. The only problem is you have to be a fairly advanced player to know how to unlock the Stealth’s shot versatility.

For the higher handicap players in our test party, the Taylormade Stealth was more valuable as a distance driver. It was yielding drives of 225 yards on average for our testers with swing speeds between 84 and 95 MPH.

Again though, it’s really hard to compare the feel of carbon fiber to forged metal. We would still have to say that we prefer forged titanium.

While the Ping G410 comes away with the better overall feel, the Taylormade Stealth driver will appear to a broader range of players. It’s lighter, faster, longer and has a more streamlined design than the G410.

The Taylormade Stealth is one of the most unique and impressive drivers of 2022 so far.

Ping G410 Driver – First Impressions

The first thing you will notice about the G410 is the amazing feel at impact.

We expect excellent performance from a Ping driver and the G410 doesn’t disappoint.

Tungsten weighting in the head and toe strecth the massive sweet spot for extra forgiveness.

Thanks to the amazing T9S titanium used to build the face of this driver, you get incredible responsiveness, ball speed and feedback.

The Trajectory tuning 2.0 allows you to adjust the loft and lie by a couple of degrees to perfectly optimize the club for your own particular game.

The streamlined, tubulator technology keeps the aerodynamic design that offers maximum swing speeds while the dragon fly technology keeps the stability in the club for even the fastest swingers.

Another point to notice is that the head is slightly smaller than the legal limit of 460cc at 455 cc’s.

While not as long as the Epic Max, it does have a better feel and more acute ball flight control overall.

The G410 Family

The G410 also comes in the SFT version. The SFT has fixed perimeter weighting to increase MOI which offers the best all round performance

The LST is the low spin model which will help to keep the ball flying more straight, more often.

The heel-oriented CG will also help correct your slice better than the standard G410.

Taylormade Stealth Driver – First Impressions

The Taylormade Stealth driver was impressive in almost every respect but we were really interested in testing our first carbon-faced driver.

For the most part, we weren’t disappointed. While it became clear fairly early on that the Taylormade Stealth driver was more for mid to low handicap players, it was awesome to experience something so fresh, new and most importantly, effective.

As you may expect from a Taylormade driver, the Taylormade Stealth features the famed speed pocket and a redesigned inertia generator that was upping the swing speeds of even our higher handicap testers (by 2-3 MPH).

The Stealth Family

The Stealth family includes the Stealth Plus and the Stealth HD drivers. The Stealth Plus is the only one in the line that features a sliding rear weight while the Stealth HD is the only one with internal draw bias.

Ping G410 – Who Are They For?

The Ping G410 driver will work best for mid handicappers who make consistent contact but are looking for enhanced workability.

Overall, the Ping G410 driver has a great level of feel with its more compact head. It’s a matter of titanium vs. stainless steel.

The G410 driver rocks a titanium face while other drivers utilize stainless steel. The T9S face of the G410 driver felt better to us but that may just be a matter of opinion.

The customization options, adjustability and thin face offer a ton of performance in all aspects of the game.

Higher handicap and inconsistent players may not be able to get much use out of the G410 with it’s smaller 455cc head.

Ping G410 Driver Family

The Plus version of the G410 has a fixed weight and offers the most balanced performance. Great for those who are consistent with their strikes.

The LST version has lower spin and is more forgiving for those who struggle to keep the ball on the fairway.
