Ping G410 Vs. PXG 0211 Driver Comparison And Review

You may have had your eye on a PXG driver for a long time. They are known for premium construction and unparalleled feel and performance.

However, before you go spend the money for a pricey PXG club, you should consider parallel drivers from other manufacturers.

Ping is another great manufacturer that rivals the construction quality of PXG in many ways. To help you make the soundest consumer decision, we have tested and compared one popular driver from each manufacturer.

Ping G410 Driver Overview

The Ping G410 is a great driver because of the sheer volume of shot-shaping options you get from it and the buttery feel.

The Ping G410 comes with both a sliding rear weight and an 8-setting adjustable hosel. That is a ton of adaptability for one driver.

With that tandem, you can correct a slice, attack every hole with custom launch angles and work the ball as needed.

Another thing we really liked and that was clearly evident after the first swing was the feel of the face. The Ping G410 has a forged titanium face that feels and sounds amazing.

While the G410 still won’t generate a ton of speed on mis-hits, you should be able to avoid most mis-hits with the adjustable rear weight and hosel.

PXG 0211 Driver Overview

The PXG 0211 also has an adjustable hosel but lacks an adjustable weight, making it the less versatile driver. However, it makes up for it in other ways.

The PXG 0211 was the more naturally forgiving driver of the two. Not only does the adjustable hosel afford help with opening and closing the face just as you need it; but the low/rear weighting makes for more MOI.

You get more help on mis-hits, even though, at the end of the day, the difference in distance between the PXG 0211 and the G410 was negligible.

We’re talking about a difference of about 2 yards in favor of the PXG 0211.

The PXG 0211 had a comparable feel to the Ping G410 as well with it’s titanium alloy face and hybrid crown construction.

Also, the stability of both drivers was impeccable so it was a wash in that category as well.

If you have been keeping track, you probably know which driver we liked more. In the end, the amazing workability and versatility of the Ping G410 was enough to put it over the top for us.

The Ping G410 driver is all about custom ball flight. Mid handicappers will love the accuracy.

The PXG 0211 driver also features an adjustable hosel in a club that is a bit more forgiving than its 0811 counterpart.

Ping G410 Driver – First Impressions

The first thing you will notice about the G410 is the amazing feel at impact.

We expect excellent performance from a Ping driver and the G410 doesn’t disappoint.

Tungsten weighting in the head and toe strecth the massive sweet spot for extra forgiveness.

Thanks to the amazing T9S titanium used to build the face of this driver, you get incredible responsiveness, ball speed and feedback.

The Trajectory tuning 2.0 allows you to adjust the loft and lie by a couple of degrees to perfectly optimize the club for your own particular game.

The streamlined, tubulator technology keeps the aerodynamic design that offers maximum swing speeds while the dragon fly technology keeps the stability in the club for even the fastest swingers.

Another point to notice is that the head is slightly smaller than the legal limit of 460cc at 455 cc’s.

While not as long as the Epic Max, it does have a better feel and more acute ball flight control overall.

The G410 Family

The G410 also comes in the SFT version. The SFT has fixed perimeter weighting to increase MOI which offers the best all round performance

The LST is the low spin model which will help to keep the ball flying more straight, more often.

The heel-oriented CG will also help correct your slice better than the standard G410.

PXG 0211 First Impressions

We were excited to see an adjustable hosel in what is essentially meant to be an entry-level PXG driver (if such a thing exists).

After the first swing, we were taken aback at how soft and smooth this driver felt. We credit this to the railed sole design which increase MOI but also adds stability by bracing the heel and toe.

The honeycombed polymer insert in the head doesn’t hurt either. Plus, the fact that you can shape shots better with the adjustable hosel actually makes this driver a great value.

  • 3-position sliding weight

PXG 0211 Selling Points

  • Single heel-oriented weight port enhances forgiveness

Ping G410 – Who Are They For?

The Ping G410 driver will work best for mid handicappers who make consistent contact but are looking for enhanced workability.

Overall, the Ping G410 driver has a great level of feel with its more compact head. It’s a matter of titanium vs. stainless steel.

The G410 driver rocks a titanium face while other drivers utilize stainless steel. The T9S face of the G410 driver felt better to us but that may just be a matter of opinion.

The customization options, adjustability and thin face offer a ton of performance in all aspects of the game.

Higher handicap and inconsistent players may not be able to get much use out of the G410 with it’s smaller 455cc head.

Ping G410 Driver Family

The Plus version of the G410 has a fixed weight and offers the most balanced performance. Great for those who are consistent with their strikes.

The LST version has lower spin and is more forgiving for those who struggle to keep the ball on the fairway.

PXG 0211 Driver – Who is it for?

The PXG 0211 driver is actually more forgiving than the 0811 so it would be more suitable for mid handicap players that need a little help with shot shaping.

We love the fact that PXG paired a high forgiveness driver with an adjustable hosel. While this driver still isn’t as forgiving as some Callaway and Taylormade entries, it is one of the most forgiving drivers that PXG has ever produced.

All in all we would say that this would be a suitable driver for a mid handicapper that already knows how to shape shots based on the nature of the hole.
