Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
Mitsubishi is always an exciting brand to test.
Their shafts frequently feature exciting new technology and more importantly, they perform well.
Today we will be taking a look at the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65. Right off the bat, this is a shaft that is best-suited to players with a fast swing speed and aggressive tempo.
We’re not saying that moderate swing speed players wouldn’t enjoy the feel of this shaft.
What we mean is that faster swingers will benefit more from the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65.
But that’s not all there is to this story. For a shaft to really work for you, it has to feel right and match your swing.
So if you’re looking to upgrade your driver shaft, join us as we tell you what you need to know about the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65.
Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 Overview
The main technology behind this shaft is the aluminum vapor coating in the grip section. That’s what the “AV” stands for.
The aluminum vapor coating actually enhances the stiffness and stability of the shaft.
When we took our first swings with the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65, we could feel the stiffness. There is virtually no kick but even with the stiffer feel, it doesn’t feel very harsh.
It definitely kept pace with all of our swings. Off the deck, it worked well with our slower fairway wood swings.
That’s the long way of saying that the Aluminum Vapor coating really works. You can feel the stability in the butt of the shaft.
The Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 is also counterbalanced which means slightly more weight has been added in the butt section.
So if you’re trying to get your driver up to a certain swing weight, this shaft can accommodate.
Why is the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 So Popular?
The Mitsubishi Tensei AV series of shafts has gained a lot of notoriety on the PGA Tour.
But they are popular among amateur players as well because they can take heavy loading. The Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 specifically kept pace with all of our swings.
Keep in mind that our testing party includes players with various swing speeds. The Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 kept its profile through almost every single swing we took.
So to say that the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 is consistent would be a bit of an understatement.
For us, the consistency was a very important feature and we suspect that’s why so many other people like it as well.
How Does the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 Perform?
One of the things that we noticed about the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 was that it tended to steepen our angles of attack.
While this shaft is marketed to provide a middling launch and low spin rates, we actually found that it was easier to get the ball in the air than usual.
Of course, this isn’t a good thing for some players. If you naturally have an angle of attack that is in the positive range, you likely don’t want to increase it any further.
Just something to take note of with this shaft. We also found that our shot dispersion tended slightly to the right with the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65.
It was almost impossible to bend the ball to the left at all.
You can feel the weight and stiffness in your hands; but you don’t get shocked even on mis-hits.
The Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 65 feels amazingly smooth for how stiff it feels. It also offers a lot of control.
