Honma TW757 Driver Review – Good for Handicappers & Forgiving?

Honma TW757 Driver

“Honma has packed the TW757 Driver with loads of new technology that is designed to give a variety of golfers exactly what they need from the tee.”

The Honma TW757 Driver Family

“The Honma TW757 driver series includes an S-Type and a D-Type version.”

The main difference between the two versions is that the S-type has a moveable weight that can be adjusted to a rear or forward position.

The D-Type driver on the other hand has a moveable weight that allows you to place the weight in the toe or heel position.

It should also be noted that the Honma TW757 S-Type has a 450cc head while the Honma TW757 D-Type has a 460cc head.

In general, you will probably want to go for the Honma TW757 D-Type if you are a high handicap player seeking more forgiveness.

The Honma TW757 S-Type is for players with faster swing speed who want to reduce long game spin as much as possible.

Is it Good for High Handicappers?

“Of course, you will want to check out the Honma TW757 D-Type if you are a high handicapper.”

The Honma TW757 D-Type features all of the same great features and technology as the Honma TW757 S-Type; just with a friendlier look at address.

The 460cc head is a bit more welcoming behind the ball for high handicappers who want more confidence in the box.

The great thing about the Honma TW757 driver line in general though is that each model features what Honma is calling “Carbon slot technology.”

If you are familiar with Taylormade drivers, then you know where this is going. The carbon slot technology is essentially a channel bored into the low face portion that allows that section of the face to flex more.

So when you miss low on the face, you won’t lose as much ball speed.

However, Honma’s version is made from a carbon fiber insert so it actually feels a bit more responsive than the Taylormade iteration.

This is one of the best features for high handicappers.

Is it Forgiving?

“In terms of forgiveness, we would have to say that both the D-Type and the S-Type are forgiving.”

Even though the S-Type head is slightly smaller, you can adjust the weight to the far back.

Doing this will give you more power and ball speed even when you miss the sweet spot. Plus, the S-Type still has the carbon low-face slot.

The D-Type has heel to toe weighting so it might be the more forgiving option if you are struggling with a hard draw or fade.

The lateral CG shift will help you dial in the CG so that your shots go straighter.

Each of these models also features a lightweight composite frame that is composed of carbon fiber and titanium.

Our testers noted that both the Honma TW757 drivers were lightweight and actually helped them increase their club head speeds by a bit.

Difference Between the Honma TW757 and the Beres Black Driver

In performance terms, one of the biggest differences between the Beres Black and the Honma TW757 drivers is that the Beres driver has a hotter face.

There is no welding on the face so almost every sector acts like a trampoline for the ball.

The crown of the Beres Black driver is also made of 8-1-1 titanium while the crown of the Honma TW757 drivers is made of a titanium-carbon composite.

The Beres driver also has a slight draw bias whereas the Honma TW757 drivers have moveable weights.

Is the Honma TW757 Worth it?

Honma TW757 Driver1

“Yes – especially if you want a premium driver that is also forgiving.”

So far, we haven’t mentioned how nice the Honma TW757 drivers feel.

The lightweight frame coupled with the Vizard shafts really allow you to load and unload comfortably.

“The Honma TW757 drivers offer a little something for everyone; but mainly, they offer forgiveness.”

Honma TW757 Driver – First Impressions

Honma TW757 Driver2

“When we first got our hands on the Honma TW757 drivers, we were first impressed by the feel of the shafts.”

The new Vizard shafts feel amazing with a stiff tip and butt and less rigid mid-sections. Of course, this won’t mean much to you if you decide to go for an aftermarket shaft.

However, we fell in love with the feel of the shaft and the club head working together to push ball speeds.

Other than that, we really liked that the club head was designed to be lightweight.

This gave some of our slower swing speed testers to compete with our faster swing speed testers in terms of club head speed – a sort of evening of the playing field if you will.

The Honma TW757 Family

“The Honma TW757 line includes the Honma TW757 D-type and S-type.”

The D-type features a weight that can be moved from heel to toe and a 460cc head.

The Honma TW757 S-type features a weight that can be moved from front to back and a 450cc head.

Honma TW757 Driver Selling Points

  • Composite titanium and carbon fiber frame
  • Lightweight design
  • Excellent stock shaft options
  • 460cc and 450cc head options

Honma TW757 – Who is it for?

Honma TW757 Driver3

“The Honma TW757 drivers are definitely for players in the 15-23 handicap region.”

Even the Honma TW757 S-Type will allow high teen handicappers to increase the forgiveness of the club head and put more power behind all of their shots.

Not to sound like a broken record, but the Honma TW757 D-type is the overall better choice if you are a high handicapper or if you have a swing speed under 85 MPH.

These are also great choices if you want (or need) a lightweight driver but also want one that has a premium feel.
