Garmin S50 Vs Garmin S62 Review & Comparison 2025

Garmin S70 Vs S50

Two of the best, current generation watches from Garmin and golfers will want to know what is the difference and which one to buy.

In a nut shell, both of these watches provide, pretty much the same functionality, they just deliver it to you in different ways.

Key Differences

The Garmin S70 Costs More

The Garmin S70 for a start costs more by about $300. That being said it comes with all the features already unlocked for $700.

The Garmin s50 Hides behind a pay wall

While the S50 costs less, it hides behind a pay wall. That means you need to pay $10 a month or $100 a year to get detailed hole overviews and be able to pin point any spot on the course.

It unlocks the green contouring and the Plays Like feature which both come as standard with the S70.

The Garmin S70 is the bigger, heavier watch

The S70 boasts a 1.4″ screen, which displays on a 454 pixel screen while the S50 has a 1.2″ screen and 390 pixel display.

The dimensions of the s70 are: 47 x 47 x 13.4 vs the s50 which is: 43 x 43 x 11.4mm.

The s70 also weighs almost twice as much at 56g compared to only 29g for the s50.

The Battery Life Is Better On The S70

Garmin have improve the battery in all of their new releases over the past couple of years and that is the case for both the S70 and the S50.

The s70 has still got an unbeatable battery life at 16 days in watch mode and 20 hours in GPS mode which should be at least 5 rounds.

The s50 is close to this, lasting 10 days in smart watch mode and 15 hours in GPS mode. To be honest it is just a question of looking at the watch before you decide to go for a round and charging it up if needs be.

Both watches are exceptional in terms of battery life compared to other brands.

The Straps And Bezels

The S70 has a Silicone band and the S50 has a comfort nylon strap that we reall like. 1 thing about the S70 strap is that it can pinch the skin at times when opening and closing.

The S70 also sports a premuium ceramic bezel while the S50 is sporting anodized aluminium.

More Sports

The s50 boasts more sport like tennis and other racket sports and also boxing. This is more in part to it being newer than anything else.

More Memory

The s70 comes with 16gb of memory compared with 4gb for the S50.

The s70 also does some more barometric functions but this will suit only a small subset of the market.

Who Should Buy The Garmin s70

If you are like us and want the best without having to pay a monthly or yearly subscription, the s70 will probably suit.

If you have a larger wrist, the S70 will probably be more appealing too.

Who Should Buy The Garmin s50.

If you want to pay for the advanced features only during the summer months when you use the watch, you may get more value from going with the S50.

If you have a smaller wrist size and prefer the feel of the comfort nylon brand, the s50 may be the way to go.

Overall

For us the S70 is the better watch if you can afford the extra $300.

Disappointing you have to pay extra as they were free in the S62.

You can track you club stats easily and all your round data goes onto the Garmin Golf App as standard.

The Battery life is amazing at 10 days in Smart Watch mode which is better than nearly every other brand.

The Watch also has heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, strees tracking, blood oxygen tracking and gives it all to you in a simple morning report.

Overall it is a decent watch, nto close to the S70, unfortunately and probably worth the extra $50 from the S44.

Garmin S70 GPS Watch – First Impressions

The beautiful Amoled touch screen of the Garmin S70 coupled with the improved design, upgraded battery life and enhanced features have knocked the S62 off the top spot in theGolg GPS market.

This one comes with 1.2″ or a 1.4″ display and will suit female golfers as well as males.

The graphics look much crisper and brighter on the new screen which also helps to save the battery which now lasts 20 hours instead of 15 in the S62.

We now have got 43,000 courses and it’s even going to pick up the backwater courses you mightn’t expect it to.

We can get the distance to any point on the green, we can now see the contours on the green and we can always see the distance and direction to the green, even on blind approaches.

The Playlike distance now shows the calculations right on the screen, inspiring more trust in the figures and they are very accurate.

The virtual caddy now suggests a club for every shot and gives you your expected average strokes when laying up or “going for it”.

It also shows where your mishits end up and how accurate you are with the big stick historically.

It also keeps the scorecard and calculates your handicap in the Garmin Golf App.

The health and fitness features are also next level now, Heart rate monitoring over extended periods, deep sleep monitoring and profiles for every sport you can imagine, the S70 has taken the strengths of the s62 to the next level.

The Garmin S50 is for someone who wants the advanced fitness tracking features of the S50 over the S44 and they value the Amoled screen.

Maybe they are on the fence about the extra golf features but may upgrade later and thy are interested in the heart rate monitor.

The s62 will still give the S50 a good run for its money so many golfers will prefer that watch.

The S70 is also superior so this is for someone who doesn’t want to fork out the full amount for the S70.

All in all is a very decent golf watch with incredible battery, but we don’t like the membership subscription model.
