Garmin S44 Vs Garmin S50 Review & Comparison 2025
Garmin has released their two new golf watches for the 2025 season and they are quite similar with only a few differences separating them.
The watches both contain the improved 390px Amoled screen which is 1.2″ in diameter.
The both have incredible battery life and they both give yout basics for free with the more juicy stuff hiding behind a pay wall called the member ship club which is a weekly or monthly subscritpion.
The paid features included distances to any point on the course, pinpointing the green when you are blocked and plays like feature which takes slope and other factors in consideration.
These watches both come with the garmin golf app and connect to the CT1 sensors or you can manually input your clbu data. Again most of the features were available on previous models as well.
Overall these watches do offer value but at the same time, they are not gonna blow anybody away with their offerings.
Garmins S44 Vs S50 In A Nutshell
The main difference is that the Garmin S50 has a heart rate monitor and a blood oxygen tracker.
It gets the heart rate from the wrist and it also has advanced fitness tracking like workout intensity, HRV and also more sport profiles to choose from.
The S50 is also lighter at 29gs compared to 42gs for the S44 and it costs $50 more.
Again the watches are good but something like the Garmin s62 will certainly still be able to compete – the Amoled screen.

Garmin S50 First Impressions
The Garmin s50 is the Upper Mid Range watch for 2025 which boasts a 390px Amoled screen, hear rate monitoring, an amazing battery life and more.
The watch gives you all the features you would expect like lay up distances, hazards, front middle and back of the green, manual pin poisitioning and more.
The Amoled screen is wasted if you dont join the membership option which costs extra, but this gives you detailed course maps, the ability to pin point any position on the course, pinpointer to the green when you are blocked out and plays like distances.
Disappointing you have to pay extra as they were free in the S62.
You can track you club stats easily and all your round data goes onto the Garmin Golf App as standard.
The Battery life is amazing at 10 days in Smart Watch mode which is better than nearly every other brand.
The Watch also has heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, strees tracking, blood oxygen tracking and gives it all to you in a simple morning report.
Overall it is a decent watch, nto close to the S70, unfortunately and probably worth the extra $50 from the S44.

Garmin S44 First Impressions
“The Garmin S44 upgrades the S40 with the amazing amoled screen added and you can pay for most of the extra features of the S70.”
The upgrade in the screen and the graphics is well worth the extra $50 on its own compared to the S42.
The watch has a nice rounded shape and comfortable nylon strap to complete the amazing design.
Another of key features is the amazing battery life, 10 days in smart watch mode and 15 hours in GPS mode or 3 to 6 rounds.
There are extra health features and profiles for various sports but it lacks the heart rate monitor that you find in the more premium watches.
You get the basics very well on this watch, distance to the front middle and back of the green, bunker views and full green view.
If you want distances to any point on the course (my favourite), more detailed course maps, and plays like distances, you will need to pay a monthly or yearly subscription (eek!).
Overall this is a definite upgrade on the previous generation S42 for only an extra $50 out of your pocket book.

Who is the Garmin S50 For?
The Gramin S50 is for someone who wants the advanced fitness tracking features of the S50 over the S44 and they value the Amoled screen.
Maybe they are on the fence about the extra golf features but may upgrade later and thy are interested in the heart rate monitor.
The s62 will still give the S50 a good run for its money so many golfers will prefer that watch.
The S70 is also superior so this is for someone who doesnt want to fork out the full amount for the S70.
All in all is a very decent golf watch with incredible battery, but we dont like the membership subsrciption model.
Pros:
- The 390px Amoled Screen
- Heart Rate Monitor
- Light Weight At 29gs
- More Affordable Than The s70
- Incredible Battery Life
- Comfortable Nylon Strap
- Sleep Tracking, Strength Training, Advanced Fitness
- The Garmin Golf App
Cons:
- Extra Features Behind A Pay Wall
- S62 may be a better option for some.
- Expensive at $400
Overall Score: 94/100
