Garmin Marq Golfer Vs. Garmin Approach S62 Golf Watch Comparison Overview

When it comes to golf GPS watches it’s hard to think of a more reliable or innovative brand than Garmin. They continue to lead the way in GPS accuracy and helpful features that allow golfers to play their best rounds no matter what the course or conditions.

Today we will be highlighting two Garmin models in the following comparison overview. There’s a lot to explore so let’s get into it.

Garmin Marq Golfer Overview

The Garmin Marq is marked (no pun intended) by a luxury timepiece style and a plethora of features.

The ceramic bezel surrounding a 46mm display gives the look of a luxury timepiece while the full vector course maps, plays like distance readings, tempo training, manual pin positioning, digital scorecard, distance readings to hazards and doglegs and greenview modes will give you the edge on the course.

To be quite honest, there are almost too many features loaded into this watch. It’s a bit hard to toggle through them all and set it to the mode you’re looking for, in fact. In addition to the golf GPS features, there are modes for running, training and even gym equipment.

This is not a touchscreen display. Instead the lens is made out of sapphire crystal. It does have a color display though.

Garmin Approach

The Approach S62 has more of a traditional golf GPS watch look and is significantly cheaper.

If you are looking for a pure golf GPS watch without all the bells and whistles, this would be the better choice. The Approach S62 is preloaded with over 41,000 courses, features a virtual caddie mode, greenview, handicap scoring, hazard distancing, digital scorecard and more.

In fact it has a lot of the same periphery fitness tracking modes for running and training that the Marq watch does; just in a more affordable package. It’s more affordable because it doesn’t have all the fancy physical timepiece features like a crystal lens. The memory (1GB) is also lesser than the Marq watch.

In terms of a pure golf GPS watch, we actually liked the S62 more. It was simpler, not as heavy on the wrist and we didn’t get the feeling that we were paying for features we would never use.

While the Garmin Marq Golfer is a truly beautiful timepiece, those who simply want to play better rounds would be better off with the Garmin Approach S62.

Key Features:

The features of the watch are immediately apparent and navigating the screens could be a bit tricky for older and less tech savvy players.

The virtual caddie calculates slope and wind, making a club selection on your behalf based on the data you have built up in the free Garmin App. If you connect the CT10 sensors to each club, you can also gain more valuable insights into your game that build up over time.

You can pick any position you want on each hole to gain masterful insights on how you are going to approach your course strategy including layups on doglegs and avoiding any hazards. You also have the option of manual pin positioning for exact distances.
