Fujikura Ventus Red Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
It can be hard to overcome the temptation to just buy a tour spec’d shaft and hope that your swing speed will improve.
In reality though, you should opt for a shaft that suits your swing speed and transition the way they are. That’s how you lower your score and that’s really how you improve.
The last thing you want is a shaft that is actually working against you. In such a case, you’re not likely to make significant progress.
So for those of us who aren’t Bryson DeChambeau, there is the Fujikura Ventus Red.
The Fujikura Ventus Red shaft is a great choice if you need a lighter shaft that is more congenial to a deliberate swing tempo.
In the following review, we will be telling you how the Fujikura Ventus Red performs and the important specs you need to know before going in for a fitting.
Fujikura Ventus Red Overview
The Ventus series gets a lot of deserved hype.
The Ventus Blue and Black shafts are great if your swing benefits from lower launch. The Fujikura Ventus Red however was made for us mortals.
It still has the multi-material construction that goes into the Blue and Black versions; but the Fujikura Ventus Red was actually designed to promote center-face impact.
When we tested the Fujikura Ventus Red, we could feel that it had an active midsection. The tip feels stiffer than you would expect from a shaft like this; but the mid-section comes alive on your full swings.
If you don’t put full effort into your swing, the Fujikura Ventus Red feels a bit inert. But don’t be intimidated because you don’t need a ridiculously fast swing to activate the Fujikura Ventus Red.
It feels light in the hands and because of the multi-material construction, the shot dispersion stays tight.
When we mis-hit with this shaft, we weren’t cruelly punished with an extreme draw or hook. Overall it’s a good pairing for game improvement drivers.
Why is the Fujikura Ventus Red So Popular?
While we can’t speak for other people, we liked the Fujikura Ventus Red because it allowed us to execute some of our most accurate drives and because it added distance.
Most of our testers were getting an extra 5 yards on their drives when using the Fujikura Ventus Red. It’s a great choice if you’re struggling with your striking accuracy too.
It’s not heavy or cumbersome and it allows for good control on your downswing.
How Does the Fujikura Ventus Red Perform?
One of the things we liked the most about the performance of the Fujikura Ventus Red was that it was obvious that it transfers swing energy very efficiently.
The tip is noticeably stiffer than the rest of the shaft so you can put your full force into every swing and get consistent results.
The launch is mid-high. It won’t balloon out of control; but it doesn’t achieve low launch angles that better players prefer.
So, as you may have already surmised, the Fujikura Ventus Red is a great fit for slower swing speed players. On off-center strikes, you do get a bit of a jolt; but we wouldn’t call it harsh by any means.
It just gently lets you know when you’ve missed canter-face.
There is a moderate kick on full swings; but the Fujikura Ventus Red lets you load up as much as you want without warping too much.
Our shot dispersion was tight with an ever-so-slight draw bias. We also noticed that our smash factors were being increased with the Fujikura Ventus Red.

What Flexes Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
The Fujikura Ventus Red is available in regular stiff and extra stiff flexes.
If you’re swinging under 85 MPH, you’re going to want to stick with the regular flex versions. For swing speeds 85 and faster, the stiff and extra stiff versions would be better.
What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
The weight range spans from 58 to 68 grams.
You are going to try the 58-59 gram versions if you’re swinging your woods and driver slower than 85 MPH. 64.5 grams to 68 grams would be better for 85+ MPH swingers.
Why is it So Good?
We liked the Fujikura Ventus Red because it is a great fit for average swing speed players.
It has enough power to allow you to increase your drive distance but it never gets ahead of itself. In other words, it’s not erratic.
