Cobra Speedzone Vs. Taylormade Stealth Driver Comparison Overview

Of all the drivers that we had the pleasure to test the Taylormade Stealth driver against, this is the one we were anticipating the most. And the testing did not disappoint. Before we get into the comparison, it must be mentioned that the Cobra Speedzone is the most comparable driver to the Taylormade Stealth in terms of performance that we have ever tested.

Of course, these two drivers have very different features. So what sets them apart? What makes them similar? Which one is better overall? Find out in the following comparison overview.

Cobra Speedzone Driver Overview

The Speedzone is similar to the Taylormade Stealth in the sense that light weight and fast club head speeds were points of emphasis.

The Speedzone has a broad carbon fiber crown and a thin (but still stable) titanium chassis holding the body together. Like the Taylormade Stealth driver, the Speedzone driver emphasizes a low, deep CG after all the weight savings from the crown and frame.

This produces high-arcing shots and does indeed help with club head speed. Our testers were averaging an increase in club head speed of 2 MPH with the Speedzone driver. Unlike the Stealth driver though, the Speedzone driver features a milled, steel face.

Long-game spin is low with this driver, just don’t expect very much in terms of forgiveness. The Speedzone will play long and is workable – for players with established swing accuracy.

Taylormade Stealth Driver Overview

The Taylormade Stealth driver features a carbon fiber face, adjustable hosel and low CG.

Like the Speedzone driver, the Stealth delivers impressive club head speed thanks to the carbon fiber weight savings and the aerodynamic, asymmetric sole panel. Club head speed was increased between 3 and 4 MPH with this driver.

When it came to distance, the similarities were uncanny. Our testers were averaging a drive distance of 228 with both these drivers with a deviance of +/- 3-5 yards. Unlike the Speedzone driver though, the Stealth driver allows you to impart an acute degree of spin when you want to.

Again though, this is something that only skilled players will be able to take advantage of.

This was incredibly tough to call. We liked the feel of the milled face of the Speedzone; but we also liked the workability of the Stealth driver. The Stealth also produced better launch.

As expected, these drivers were so similar in so many key performance metrics but in the end, we have to give the slight edge to the Taylormade Stealth driver. At the end of the day, it was a matter of versatility and the Stealth simply has more to offer different skill-level players.

The Taylormade Stealth driver was impressive in almost every respect but we were really interested in testing our first carbon-faced driver.

For the most part, we weren’t disappointed. While it became clear fairly early on that the Taylormade Stealth driver was more for mid to low handicap players, it was awesome to experience something so fresh, new and most importantly, effective.

The Cobra Speedzone are more for low handicap players with faster swing speeds.
