Cobra LTDx Fairway Wood Vs Cobra Radspeed Fairway Wood Comparison Overview

Cobra have always been the little brother compared to the likes of TaylorMade, Callaway and Titleist. However in recent years they have really stepped up their game, and started producing some incredible equipment.

When you have the likes of Rickie Fowler and Bryson Dechambeau backing you, it’s very easy to catch people’s eyes. The Radspeed and LTDx range are incredible. With loads of technology packed into it at an affordable price, the Cobra range won’t let you down.

Let’s get into it, we will be talking about both of these models fairway woods, hopefully clearing things up and answering the questions you may have.

Cobra LTDx Fairway Overview

The Cobra LTDx fairway wood is built for distance. It has front and back weighting, which creates a combination of low spin, speed, and high launch for maximum carry with stopping power on the greens.

Cobra have incorporated a PWR-COR Technology into the fairway wood, this positions a lot of weight low and forward in the head, this gives you faster ball speed with reduced spin.

Their all new H.O.T Face design is tuned for speed using machine learning. Cobra claimed to have used data from thousands of shots, they have created 15 different zones with unique thicknesses, this will increase ball speed across the entire face.

LTDx fairway wood has a multi-material construction. A lighter carbon crown allows them to place more weight low and forward in the PWR-COR to give you maximum speed and stability.

This is where Cobra have really stepped it up in recent years, every model and loft is available with a premium aftermarket shaft. There are many different options to choose from, to help you get dialed in.

Cobra Radspeed Rairway Overview

The Cobra Radspeed fairway is a traditional looking fairway. It has a balance of front and back radial weighting, this gives you low spin, with high launch for maximum distance and great stopping power approaching the green.

The Cobra Radspeed features a front biased radial weighting system. It has two 8 gram internal front RAD weights and a 7g back weight, this gives you a balance of ultra low spin with high launch for forgiveness.

It has a CNC milled infinity face, the infinity edge face design increases the milled area by 95%, giving you more ball speed.

The hollow rails in the front of the club create 70% more flex on the sole, this will increase forgiveness and ball speed on low struck shots.

The Cobra Radspeed has a new carbon fiber material. It is 30% thinner and 4 grams lighter, this gives Cobra the ability to move the weight that was saved into better positions to help with distance and forgiveness.

Extremely forgiving, the look and sound is amazing. Definitely recommended if you are on a tighter budget.

Cobra LTDx Fairway First Impressions

Our first impression of the Cobra LTDx wasn’t as good as we had hoped. The look and the colors didn’t stand out to us. But when we put the club behind the ball our views changed a little.

It sets up very nicely behind the ball, it sits very square and gives you confidence from the get go.

Once we started hitting it, that is when things changed even more. Instantly we saw awesome ball speeds on every shot. The forgiveness was incredible. Low struck shots seemed to still launch high, and didn’t lose too much ball speed.

We really enjoyed the shaft options and adjustability, this allowed us to really get dialed in. Once we found our shaft and loft option, we noticed even more forgiveness, and it was easier than ever to stop the ball on the greens.

Cobra LTDx Fairway Family

Cobra has two additional models in the LTDx family, the LTDx LS and LTDx Max.

The LTDx LS in the low spinning model, this would be aimed more towards the low handicap golfers, or a player with high swing speeds.

It is a low launch and spin fairway wood, which will be less forgiving compared to the other two models. The weighting is pushed more towards the front of the clubs, giving it it’s unique features.

The LTDx Max fairway is Cobra’s draw biased fairway wood. It has all the same features as the other two models however, the weight is positioned more towards the heel of the club, this gives it a draw biased shape. It is a mid-low spinning and high launching head, great for any high handicap golfer.

Cobra Radspeed Fairway First Impressions

Similar to the LTDx we weren’t blown away by the initial looks, however when you put the club behind the ball, everything sets up really nicely.

Ball speed and forgiveness were definitely there, and low struck shots seemed to still launch high, with very little ball speed being lost.

The CNC milled infinity face was a bit off putting, as we couldn’t visually see where the face and crown joined, it was just a bit off putting.

We really enjoyed the hollow rails, we felt it helped tremendously with turf interaction, 90% of the time the club glided through the turf with ease.

Cobra Radspeed Fairway Family

Similar to the LTDx fairway, the Radspeed has two additional models, the Tour head and Draw head.

Very simple wording here, the Tour head has all the same technology as the standard head other than the weight in the head being positioned more towards the front of the head, this will give it a low launch and spin, aimed more towards the faster swing speed and low handicap golfers.

The Draw head, again has the same technology as the other two heads, however the weight is placed towards the heel of the club, this will give you a more draw biased head. Aimed at your higher handicap golfer.
