Cobra Fly Xl Golf Club Set Review 2023

Ready to step up from your beginner set of golf clubs or to get a set that really allows you to compete.

Cobra is a great manufacturer to go with because they are known for incorporating advanced technology into their intermediate-level club sets.

What does that mean? It means they offer sets that are a great value to mid handicappers.

It can be hard to decide which Cobra golf club set to choose, though. Almost all of them are loaded with appealing features and look amazing.

To help you out, we will be demystifying one of their most popular intermediate sets: the Cobra Fly XL Golf Club set.

Cobra Fly XL

“The Cobra Fly XL Golf Club set will help you shoot straighter and get to the pin in fewer strokes.”

With the Cobra Fly XL Golf Club set you get a driver, a 3 wood, a 5 wood, irons 6-9, a pitching wedge, a sand wedge and a putter.

That’s not all though. To transport these clubs you will get a premium cart bag with a 14-way top divider and plenty of storage. The entire package will run you about $900 at most retailers.

Initially, we were taken aback at the price tag. It’s a bit steep for a golf club set in the intermediate category.

However, Cobra has packed a lot of features into this set that make it worth the initial investment.

The set starts with a driver that produces incredibly straight shots even on hits closer to the heel.

The 3 and 5 woods feature a comfortable squat crown. The lower profile of the heads help increase MOI and stretch the sweet spots out to the heel and the toe.

You get 2 hybrids in the Cobra Fly XL Golf Club set which, is nice if you haven’t gotten the hang of longer irons yet.

The #4 and #5 hybrids are forgiving replacements of their iron counterparts.

The irons are perhaps the most forgiving clubs in this set, which is good news for mid handicappers. They produce nice, high-arcing shots and are surprisingly workable.

The Cobra Fly XL Golf Club set also includes both a pitching and sand wedge. These wedges offer tight shot dispersion and have sharp, deep face grooves.

The putter in the Cobra Fly XL set is very impressive. It is a blade-type putter with precision machined face that provides amazing feel and feedback.

“The Cobra Fly XL Golf Club set is predicated on providing more accuracy and straight shots for intermediate-level players.”

Cobra Fly XL – First Impressions & Club Breakdowns

Right out of the box, the Cobra Fly XL have a sleek look that will make you want to hit the links immediately.

In true Cobra style, the company has combined great looks with accuracy in the Cobra Fly XL set.

Driver

The 460CC driver has a titanium face to maximize flex and ball speed.

It also features heel-biased weighting to help correct that slice.

Woods

The set includes a 3 and 5 fairway wood.

They are also heel weighted so they produce amazingly straight shots off the deck.

Hybrids

The 4 and 5 hybrid play nice and long so you can actually hit some greens with them on lower par holes.

Irons

The irons will do a lot for you if you are struggling with accuracy on the fairway.

They are cavity-back which, inherently makes them more forgiving because of the raised MOI.

On top of that, they are perimeter weighted to make the sweet spot feel endless.

Wedges

The Cobra Fly XL set comes with a sand and pitching wedge which, is nice for when you find yourself staring down a tough in-between shot.

The head profile of the wedges are nice and beefy but you still get good spin control out of them.

Putter

The machined face of the blade-style putter feels amazing.

It provides you with the roll control that you are probably seeking now that you are really concentrating on your short game.

Shafts

You can get your  iron shafts in alloy steel or graphite for the slower swing speeds.

You also get a chose of regular or senior flex giving the clubs excellent customization options.
