Callaway Warbird Golf Club Set Review 2023

Buying a beginner set of golf clubs comes with it’s fair share of pitfalls. You don’t want to go too cheap and get a set that doesn’t last a single season.

On the other hand, you don’t want to overspend on a bunch of features you don’t need as a beginner.

If you are in the market for a good beginner’s set of golf clubs allow us to demystify one of the most popular sets on the market: the Callaway Warbird set.

Callaway Warbird

The Callaway Warbird golf club set is perfect for the casual golfer or any high handicappers looking to lower their score”

The Callaway Warbird golf club set includes a driver, a 3 wood, a 3 hybrid, irons 4-9, a sand wedge, pitching wedge and a putter.

Your purchase will also include a premium cart bag with top divider to secure all the clubs in the set. There are also head covers for the woods and putter. This is a good package for the price point of this set which, is about $300.

Our initial reaction to this set was that it would provide a good foundation for players just starting with the game. The driver is a very generous 460CC set to 10.5 degrees.

The 3 wood is perimeter weighted which, is nice because it increases the MOI of the club and enhances forgiveness.

The 3 hybrid is nice and lightweight with a graphite shaft. It provides good gapping between your woods and irons.

The irons are very forgiving with their pronounced offset and cavity backs. You get great distance from the long irons especially.

The putter is perhaps the most impressive club in a set this affordable. It allows for spot-on accuracy and roll control.

“Our overall assessment of the Callaway Warbirds is that they will fit the bill for beginners but won’t offer much for mid to low handicappers.”

Callaway Warbird – Whats In The Bag

The Callaway Warbird Set Includes The Following Clubs:

Callaway Warbird – First Impressions & Club Breakdowns

Initially, you can tell the warbirds are going to be lightweight and congenial for new players.

The heads are oversized which, gives them a more comforting appearance for high handicappers. They are a good combination of distance and forgiveness.

Driver

The driver is set to 10.5 degrees so it offers a mid to high launch trajectory.

More important however is the generous sweet spot that produces straight shots even on less than accurate drives.

The shaft is lightweight and provides enough flex to up the ball speed for players with slow swing speeds.

3 Wood

The 3 wood feels nicely balanced: light enough to be weildy in the hands but hefty enough to put some oomph behind your shots.

The sole is also nice and wide to inspire confidence in players not used to woods.

3 Hybrid

The hybrid that comes in the Warbird set offers a good amount of flex.

This will help beginners push the ball further and increase ball speed. Overall, this is a great club to help you warm up to using your longer irons.

Irons

The Warbird set comes with irons 4-9. They are all cavity back irons to help with distance and forgiveness.

One of the nicest features of these irons however, is that they feature progressive offset.

As the irons become trickier to square up with as you move onto the shorter ones, these irons make it easier to produce accurate shots.

Wedges

The great thing about the pitching and sand wedge is that they both have deep undercut channels.

This will help beginners launch the ball higher in the air so their shots will stop dead on the green.

They also feature perimeter weighting and the progressive iron offset extends to these wedges as well.

Putter

Last but not least, you get a super high-quality Odyssey 330 putter. This is a half mallet type putter and it features a urethane insert to enhance feel and roll control.
