Callaway Rogue ST Max Driver Review – Good for High Handicappers & Forgiving?

The new Rogue ST Max features a redesigned titanium body frame that helps keep weight down, lowers the CG and provides more stability than the previous Rogue model.

The Rogue ST Max also sports the most tungsten weight of any driver in the new Rogue lineup.

The Rogue Driver Family

The Rogue ST Max features a 26 gram tungsten cartridge for extremely high MOI and low CG.

The Rogue ST Max D and the Rogue ST LS each have 20 grams of tungsten positioned in the deep rear of the head. However, the Rogue ST Max D features draw bias while the Rogue ST LS has a neutral ball flight.

Then there is the Rogue ST Max LS. The ST Max LS has 23 grams of tungsten and a neutral ball flight. It also has lower spin rates than the ST Max and the ST Max D so it occupies a nice middle ground between the entire family.

Is it Good for High Handicappers?

The Rogue ST Max is set to a slight draw flight bias so we think it’s perfect for the average high handicap player because the slight rightward miss is among the most common type of misses.

The Rogue ST Max also has a pronounced offset which will help your ball fly straighter.

Overall, it’s very easy to turn the club head of this driver over on the downswing and all that extra tungsten weight will really impart a lot of power to your swing.

Is it Forgiving?

In a word, yes. The Rogue ST Max driver produces effortless launch and no matter where you make impact on the face, your ball will fly farther than it would with most other drivers.

The only problem we anticipate for beginner players is the weight of this driver.

Difference Between the Rogue ST Max and the Epic Speed

The main difference between the Rogue ST Max and the Callaway Epic Speed driver is weight and swing speed.

The Epic Speed is lighter and will do more to increase your swing speed than the Rogue ST Max.

The Callaway Rogue Max ST offers accessible distance and unrivalled stability for players of nearly all skill levels.

Callaway Rogue ST Max  Driver – First Impressions

After our first swing with the Roge ST Max, we were very impressed by how solid and satisfying it felt.

Part of the solid feel comes from the internal bracing bars that are more laterally expansive to provide body support both horizontally and vertically. That, coupled with the titanium low-profile body bracing make for an exceptionally solid driver with a nice, comfortable and low center of gravity.

The Callaway Rogue ST Max also features an adjustable hosel for fine-tuning your shot shape.

The Rogue ST Family

The Rogue ST Max is the only one with a 26 gram tungsten weight. The Rogue ST Max D, Rogue ST Max LS and Rogue ST LS have either 23 gram or 20 gram weights. The Rogue ST LS was the most workable of the bunch and produced the lowest spin off the tee.
