Callaway Paradym Vs Taylormade Stealth 2 Driver Comparison Overview

It’s a new year and with it comes new offerings from major golf club manufacturers.

This is always an exciting time of year for us because it means we get to test the latest and greatest from the likes of Taylormade and Callaway.

Today, we will be telling you about our test experience with the new Taylormade Stealth 2 and Callaway Paradym drivers. Which driver should be on your radar? Read on to find out.

Callaway Paradym Driver Overview

“Callaway may have taken a page out of Taylormade’s book when they designed the Paradym driver.”

We say that because the Paradym driver has a bunch of carbon fiber all over it and Taylormade is known for going carbon fiber-crazy over the last few years. The Paradym features a carbon fiber crown and sole to save on weight while increasing stiffness.

The Paradym driver also features a 15 gram sliding weight that can be set in the neutral, draw or fade positions. All of this goes with a new forged titanium face. Our testers noted that the Paradym driver feels really smooth at impact and that it was the lighter-feeling driver compared to the Taylormade Stealth 2.

This is a 460cc driver that amazingly, produces pretty low spin rates (consistently under the 2500 RPM mark). Our testers averaged 234.8 yards with the Paradym driver after three swings each.

Taylormade Stealth 2 Driver Overview

“The Taylormade Stealth 2 features a carbon fiber layered face as well as a carbon fiber crown and internal ring.”

Instead of keeping things on the light side though, Taylormade opted for a hefty 25 gram weight in the back. The good news is that the weight seems to improve MOI significantly. Our testers mentioned that the shot dispersion with the Taylormade Stealth 2 was nice and tight.

They even called the Taylormade Stealth 2 more forgiving than the Callaway Paradym driver. It also has inverted cone technology which sirens the sweet spot. The Taylormade Stealth 2 yielded similar distance to the Callaway Paradym driver though: an average of 237.2 yards after three swings.

“So which is the better new driver? That will depend on the player. If you want the familiar and premium feel of forged titanium, go with the Callaway Paradym driver. If you want a more forgiving driver, we would recommend the Taylormade Stealth 2 driver.

Callaway Paradym Driver – First Impressions

The Ai enhancement of the forged titanium face ensures that the ball is going straight from almost any area across it.

It is also big and inviting in the Paradym and Paradym X models.

The Triple diamond is more compact and will offer tour players longer distance and more workability in the 2023 season.

The Face Cup Technology wraps around the face to extend the forgiveness even further and enhance the flex across the face.

The Ai Jailbreak speedbar technology is still on offer but it is reduced to a single bar again with two prons at the bottom. This offers enhanced ballspeeds and increased stability.

The 360 Degree Carbon chassis is a first in the industry and offers unrivalled weight savings which are then redistributed to enhance the ball speeds on offer.

Overall these clubs are longer, more forgiving and feel better than their predecessors.

The only problem is the premium price tag that comes with them which is close to $700 or £600.

Callaway Paradym Family

The Paradym has an adjustable 15g slot that can be adjusted to suit your swing style.

It offers mid level spin and superb distance. Were getting around 10 yards further the Rogue ST Driver from 2022.

For someone that tends to draw the ball a little bit, the Paradym X was drawing a bit much for my liking but it will definitely suit a slicer.

It is the highest launching, highest spinning model with the shortest distance.

It is probably worth sacrificing that extra distance to actually land on the Fairway more consistently.

Expect to see the Paradym Triple Diamond extensively on tour this year, while some Tour Pros will prefer the regular Paradym.

The Diamond version has a 450cc head, and adjustable weighting. It offers stronger lofts, the most distance and the lowest launch angle.

Taylormade Stealth 2 Driver – First Impressions

“The new Stealth 2 drivers have a ton of shelf appeal, three version to choose from and plenty of Carbon in the face, permieter, sole and crown.

The carbon face has 60 sheets of the ultra strong material and it is covered in a glossy finish which makes it a little less vibrant than the original Stealth.

Inside the face is the inverted cone technology, usually reserved for Taylormade irons, which adds forgiveness on off center hits.

Forgiveness, accuracy and dispersion has been the focus of the Taylormade drivers this year. The original Stealth was great for tour players who had it dialed in but it was a little bit wayward for regular golfers.

The Stealth 2 is a little bit erratic still and it’s not as long as the Callaway Paradym or Cobra Aerojet for 2023 either.

That being said, these drivers look great in the bag and there are 3 variations to choose from.

If these drivers can help you to keep the ball on the fairway then they will be a boon for any golfer, its important to get a fitting to see what works best for your game.

The inject molded Carbon reinforced ring reduces weights which is redistributed with an inertia generating tungsten weight at the back of the club . This leads to higher MOI and increased distance.

The Taylormade acoustics team has also been busy throughout the year ensuring the sound and feel are on point with the new drivers and they do feel more powerful on impact.

When you catch the drivers flush, they fly for miles, especially the plus model, but we found off-center hit to be a little bit left and right in testing.

Perhaps if we had more time to test we could have dialed them in better as there is plenty of adjustable. The + has a sliding 15g weight and the loft can be increased or decreased by 2 degrees on each club alongside the lie angle.

The top line is also a little bit straighter at the behest of tour pro, Colin Morikawa.

Taylormade Stealth 2 Family

3 versions to choose from in the Stealth 2 family.

The Stealth 2 plus will the driver used on tour by pros like Colin Morikawa and Rory Mcilroy.

The 15g adjustable sliding weight ensures you can get this one perfect for your swing.

It is also the longest and lowest spinning.

The Stealth 2 HD is the draw bias driver which will help higher handicappers who are dealing with a slice.

It is also the highest launching and highest spinning, with the least distance

The Stealth 2 is the middle ground which should be the best driver out of the box with mid launch, mid spin and mid distance.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Driver for?

“The 3 Paradym drivers on offer from Callaway have enough firepower to suit every type of golfer possible.”

While the draw bias X version was a little too draw bias for us. Some players who don’t slice the ball have found it incredibly straight. It launches high and it is the most forgiving by far. Slightly less distance than the regular Paradym.

The regular Paradym will be the best choice for almost all players. It has an adjustable 15g weight on the back that will suit and shot type.

This one is jam packed with the latest ai technology and carbon body. We found it 10 yards longer and more forgiving than the 2022 model.

The triple diamond is going to be limited to the best strikers in the game.

We were spraying this one left and right but when we did catch it flush, it flew for miles.

Overall a very impressive if not slightly expensive set of drivers.
