Callaway Epic Max Vs. Callaway Rogue ST Max Driver Comparison & Review

There are a lot of ways by which the Callaway Rogue ST Max and the Callaway Epic Max drivers mirror each other in terms of performance. After all, they are both game-improvement drivers from the same manufacturer.

But it’s really the slight, subtle differences that you have to pay attention to if you want the best driver for your needs. To help you identify and make sense of those subtle differences, we have put together the following comparison overview.

Callaway Epic Max Driver Overview

The Callaway Epic Max was built to help players achieve faster ball speeds without having to sacrifice consistency.

It starts with a titanium face that flexes to a high degree. Keeping the stability of the face in check are internal Jailbreak bracing arms which are also present in the Callaway Rogue ST Max driver. The weighting of the Epic Max is nice and low and promotes a slight draw bias as well.

Again, the low CG and slight draw bias feels almost identical to that of the Callaway Rogue ST Max. However, there is one glaring difference: the CG of the Epic Max can be shifted via a 16 gram sliding rear weight. Both the Epic Max and the Callaway Rogue ST Max come with adjustable hosels as well.

Callaway Rogue ST Max Driver Overview

One subtle difference in the Callaway Rogue ST Max is that it features a one-piece titanium body frame.

The frame sits low in the head and works in conjunction with the Jailbreak bars to not only provide stability; but lower the CG even further. However, the Callaway Rogue ST Max has no adjustable weight so it’s permanently set in a semi-draw position.

Still, the Callaway Rogue ST Max has a deeper face profile which gives it a larger sweet spot than the Epic Max driver. Indeed, most of our testers found the Callaway Rogue ST Max to be more forgiving than the Epic Max.

While it may be heavier than the Epic Max, most of our testers were able to ignore that fact and still manage to hit the ball straight and long.

The newer Callaway Rogue ST Max also drives farther than the Callaway Epic Max – at least for most of our high handicap testers. Launch angles were also significantly higher with the Callaway Rogue ST Max as opposed to the Epic Max.

Callaway Rogue ST Max  Driver – First Impressions

After our first swing with the Roge ST Max, we were very impressed by how solid and satisfying it felt.

Part of the solid feel comes from the internal bracing bars that are more laterally expansive to provide body support both horizontally and vertically. That, coupled with the titanium low-profile body bracing make for an exceptionally solid driver with a nice, comfortable and low center of gravity.

The Callaway Rogue ST Max also features an adjustable hosel for fine-tuning your shot shape.

The Rogue ST Family

The Rogue ST Max is the only one with a 26 gram tungsten weight. The Rogue ST Max D, Rogue ST Max LS and Rogue ST LS have either 23 gram or 20 gram weights. The Rogue ST LS was the most workable of the bunch and produced the lowest spin off the tee.
