Callaway Elyte Vs Titleist GT2

The latest driver offering from Callaway in the Elyte goes head to head with one of the very best drivers from the 2024 season in the Titleist GT2.

Callaway Elyte Driver Overview

Callaway Elyte Driver 3

Callaway broke the bank on a 3D printer in 2025 which developed 75 prototypes to try and replace the Coveted Paradym Ai Smoke.

Starting with the looks and the cloudy blue of the AI Smoke is gone, replaced by a glossy black, like the GT2, which is still Thermoforged Carbon.

The new design is set to reduce the drag, improve the aerodynamics and we did an increase of ball speed of about 1 mph.

The 10XAI smart face now has 10 times more sweet spots meaning there should be a tighter dispersion across the face.

There is a 13g Tungsten weight at the back of the club which can be set to one of three positions to optimize your strike and there are three overall version of the driver to choose from.

The driver delivers a crisp powerful sound across the face and Callaway have increased the distance with a lower flight and less spin than the Ai Smoke with a tighter dispersion.

Titleist GT2 Driver Overview

Gt2 Titleist

The Titleist GT2 had to unenviable job of replacing the uber popular TSR2 from the 2022 season.

Titleist have avoided using carbon in their drivers for a number of years but have finally come up with a secret Proprietary Matrix Polymer crown which is hand finished to blend seamlessly together with the rest of the head.

Titleist are also claiming a reduction in drag and improved aerodynamics with the new material which also reduces weight. The reduced weight is moved lower and deeper with a split mass positioning system.

The Speed Ring Variable face technology is incredibly forgiving and you do get an equally performance when caught flush, better than the TSR2.

There is no dull carbon sound with this driver. it sound crisp and powerful with a hum that hangs in the air like the mid-high ball flight.

The performance of the GT2 is where it really shines. It delivers increased distance and incredibly forgiveness, comparably to the Ping G440 Max. The ball flight is higher but they have also managed to keep the spin low.

A very impressive thats square face has impoved alignment lines for super premium performance.

Titleist GT2 Vs Callaway Elyte Performance

The Titleist offers superior than the Callaway Elyte from our testing.

It delivered more distance, lower spin rates and a tighter dispersion. It also sounded and felt better.

That being said, the Callaway driver will suit a lot of other golfers so best to test them out before comitting to either one.

GT2 4

“The GT2 looks amazing with the gloss black colouring and we see the elongated head which is longer from back to from to keep the weight lower and further back..”

Titleist really dominated with the TSR2, so it was a big job to improve on it, but they have managed the job well. The best kept secret about the GT2 is the Proprietary Matrix Polymer crown which is hand finished to ensure no join lines and it rolls seemlessly into other parts of the club. Titleist say, this reduces drag, improves aerodynamic and also saves weight.

The saved weight is used in a split mass positioning system which keeps the cog low and deep. There is also a removable weight at the back of the head to dial this club in to your exact needs. The Speed ring VFT worked extremely well in the TSR2 but not as much when you caught it flush.

The GT2 improves on this with even more sweet spots in the face and optimal ball flight. The flight is high on the GT2 but the smash factor was also the best among the 2024 and 2025 drivers. You get a higher launch, steeper decent angle, less spin, more carry and more total distance. A really great performing driver.

Titleist avoided Carbon until now because the weight savings were offset by the components to hold it in place, but also the sound. The GT2 sounds like a classic Titleist driver with a crisp powerful sound that hangs in the air nearly as long as the beautful ball flights.

Callaway have used a 3D Printer to reduce drag and an AI Super Computer to increase forgiveness across the face.

Elyte Driver 2

“The driver is less flashy than the AI Smoke and its an Epic green finish on the bottom with Thermograde Carbon on the crown.”

The driver may not look as premium as some other drivers but it sounds and performs amazing. There are 3 options with the driver – the standard ELyte for most players, the Elyte X for max launch and forgiveness, especially for a slice.

The triple diamond for better players with less spin and more distance. Callaway investing into a new 3d Printer that spit out almost 100 prototypes for this new driver. The big improvement, they say, lies in the reduction of drag from the old AI smoke and we did see a small increase in club speed during out testing. Forgiveness is the other big improvement.

Callaway have more data in the AI Super computer now and that means more control points across the face. It’s now called the Ai10X face as it has over 10 times more sweet spots along the face. These new drivers are very forgiving to the point where you can almost always hit the fairway with any sort of decent strike.

The sliding weight has been removed from the Ai Smoke and there is a 3 position 13g Tungsten weight in its place to optimise the club for your particular miss. Overall, a very impressive range of drivers for 2025 and beyond.

Who is the Titleist GT2 for?

Gt2 Titleist

“This is the most forgiving of the range but it can be used by any level of golfer. Mainly for high to mid handicappers.”

The Titleist R&D team can give themselves a pat on the back for this one and it will continue Titleists dominance in the driver space.

A driver that sounds and feels amazing but alos produces long, straight high flights with slow spin and unbeatable distance. It doesnt get much better than this.

The Speed Ring VFT really fires the ball straight from anywhere but you do get a little extra boost in the middle of the face that you didnt get with the TSR2.

Add that to the adjustable weight at the back and the excellent hosel adjustment season and it’s hard to see how any other driver can take ont eh GT2 in 2024/2025 and win.

Who is the Callaway Elyte for?

Callaway Elyte Driver 3

“With 4 Models available, the Callaway Elyte driver is for everybody who wants to play golf.”

With the increased accuracy of the face, the standard Elyte model will suit plenty of high, mid and even low handicappers.

If you struggle with a slice or have a slow swing speed Callaway have also got you covered. The triple diamond will be getting plenty of air time on this year as well.

The Ai10 face really does improve the consistency of this driver. Even when we hit the heel or toe in testing, the ball never went out of control and we always hugged the fairway on the left or right side, despite poor contact.

The ball sounds really good off the face too and in terms of speed and forgiveness, its right up there with the Ping G440 Max  drivers.

More forgiving than the Taylormade Qi35 and slightly longer.
