Callaway Elyte Vs Cobra DS Adapt X

Callaway And Cobra go head to head in today’s review as we take a look at their latest releases for the 2025 season in the Callaway Elyte Vs The Cobra Ds Adapt X Drivers

Callaway Elyte Driver Overview

Callaway Elyte Driver 3

Callaway have been investing in the brand this year after acquiring a 3D printer for $2 million to assist in creating this latest iteration of their drivers.

The printer spit out over 75 prototypes before they finally landed on the design for the Elyte which they say is more aerodynamic.

The biggest change in the drivers has been in the looks and the cloudy, flashy blue grey looks of the AI Smoke are replaced with the Epic green and black glossy coat, while thermoforged carbon remains at the center, but now more aerodynamic, adding 1mph to our club speed.

The face has also been improved and Callaway are calling it to AI10X Smart face with over 10 times the amount of sweet spots across the face to improve forgiveness on off center shots.

There is a 13g tungsten weight at the rear of the club with 3 settings, draw, neutral and fade. We prefer that neutral slot to optimize distance and keep those spin levels down.

There are three drivers in the range and the standard is for moderate to slightly faster swing speeds looking for a mid launch, mid spin with maximum distance and forgiveness.

Cobra DS Adapt X Driver Overview

Cobra Ds Adapt X Driver 4

Cobra have gone the way of the Titleist GT3 by adding the Futurefit Hosel design which has 33 different options for Loft and lie. Probably best to get a fitting but you can scan the QR code on the club to get the perfect settings for the shot shape you want to achieve with the club.

The new Smart Face AI 10x has more sweet spots across the face which should result in a tighter dispersion.

There are interchangeable 10g and 3g weights that can be optimized whether you want a higher launch or more distance.

The Pwr Bridge remains low in the club face for shots that are hit low on the face and it lowers the CG to improve the launch angle of the drivers.

Callaway Elyte Vs Cobra Ds Adapt X Performance

The performance of these drivers was very similar with the Callaway just edging out the Cobra in our testing.

With a similar club head speed we were getting more ball speed and a hgiher launch with the Callaway Elyte.

That being said the spin rates were almost identical and both quite low.

Despite the Callaway launching a little higher, the carry and total distance were roughly the same.

While we were missing a couple of shots left and right with the Cobra and the low strikes were pulling up a little short, the Callaway 10XAI Smart face was offering a tighter dispersion on the mis hits.

Always best to test both drivers to see what works best for your game.

“A FutureFit33 Hosel with 33 Settings adds to an impressive, forgiving, long and moderate launching/spinning driver for moderate to slightly fast swing speeds.”

Ds Adapt x 7

“The Cobra DS Adapt is worthy replacement for the impressive Dark Speed drivers from Cobra.”

It has a long and forgiving head alongside 33 loft and lie options which will be a club fitters dream but may get other eager golfers into trouble on the course by using the wrong settings.

The Carbon wraps around the head and the sole and Cobra say that they have again improved the aerodynamics of the driver for extra club head speed and they have also reduced the weight the optimize the CG placement.

There are two moveable weights, 10g and 3g which are interchangeable and sit at the front and back of the head.

The Forged hot face is also improved, offering increased forgiveness on off center shots. It also gives a premium sound and feel and offers a ton of ball speed off the face.

The X version is one of 4 heads on offer and even Rickie Fowler has this customized to his optimal settings on tour in 2025.

The X is for moderate to slightly faster swing speeds who want a moderate/high launch, plenty of distance and a bunch of forgiveness.

It’s not as long and low spinning as the LS version but it is longer and lower spinning than Max K and the Max D versions.

This is a quality driver that can easily hold its own and compete with the better drivers of 2025.

Elyte Driver 2

“The driver is less flashy than the AI Smoke and its an Epic green finish on the bottom with Thermograde Carbon on the crown.”

The driver may not look as premium as some other drivers but it sounds and performs amazing. There are 3 options with the driver – the standard Elyte for most players, the Elyte X for max launch and forgiveness, especially for a slice. The triple diamond for better players with less spin and more distance. Callaway investing into a new 3d Printer that spit out almost 100 prototypes for this new driver. The big improvement, they say, lies in the reduction of drag from the old AI smoke and we did see a small increase in club speed during out testing. Forgiveness is the other big improvement. Callaway have more data in the AI Super computer now and that means more control points across the face. It’s now called the Ai10X face as it has over 10 times more sweet spots along the face. These new drivers are very forgiving to the point where you can almost always hit the fairway with any sort of decent strike. The sliding weight has been removed from the Ai Smoke and there is a 3 position 13g Tungsten weight in its place to optimise the club for your particular miss. Overall, a very impressive range of drivers for 2025 and beyond.

Who is the Callaway Elyte for?

Callaway Elyte Driver 3

“With 4 Models available, the Callaway Elyte driver is for everybody who wants to play golf.”

With the increased accuracy of the face, the standard Elyte model will suit plenty of high, mid and even low handicappers.

If you struggle with a slice or have a slow swing speed Callaway have also got you covered. The triple diamond will be getting plenty of air time on this year as well.

The Ai10 face really does improve the consistency of this driver. Even when we hit the heel or toe in testing, the ball never went out of control and we always hugged the fairway on the left or right side, despite poor contact.

The ball sounds really good off the face too and in terms of speed and forgiveness, its right up there with the Ping G440 Max  drivers.

More forgiving than the Taylormade Qi35 and slightly longer.
