Callaway Edge Vs Callaway Warbird Club Sets Review And Comparison 2023
Two of the lesser known full club sets released by golfing behemoth, Callaway.
The Edge are an excellent beginner to intermediate set that perform really well, although the set does come without a bag to carry the clubs.
The Callaway Warbird is a high performing for beginners and intermediates that comes at a pretty attractive prize point.
Callaway Warbird
If you want a premium quality set of clubs from one of the best brands around, you could do a lot worse than the Callaway Warbird set.
It is a lesser known set but it is quite popular in it’s own right as the clubs offer tremendous performance and consistency to new comers and improvers.
We see the large driver head in the warbird set, back weighting that keeps the sweet spot large and a large thin steel face that promotes faster ball speeds.
Low- rear weighting continues in the wood and hybrid and you can expect to have the clubs you need to hit any shot required with the set.
The irons are perimeter weighted for forgiveness and you get a premium odyssey putter to complete an excellent set that can challenge the likes of the better known callaway clubs.
Callaway Edge Set Overview
You get more of the same with the Callaway Edge set which is available at Costco, is extremely popular and bizarrely, comes without a bag but in a box instead.
When you open the box and put these clubs to use, you realized that they are premium set of game improvement clubs.
These clubs are made with better quality than cheaper beginner sets and the result is enhanced performance.
If you have an old set with a bag already, the Callaway Edge can be a good option to give you game that instant injection that you have been craving.
Both sets are similar in terms of quality and performance, both catering to the average player. You get the same clubs in each set.
If you want to pay $1,200 you get the Edge with the fancy head covers and bag included but if you don’t need a bag, the Edge set is the better option to buy for $800.

Callaway Edge – Whats In The Set
The Callaway Edge Set Comes With The Following Clubs But No Bag

Callaway Warbird – First Impressions & Club Breakdowns
Initially, you can tell the warbirds are going to be lightweight and congenial for new players.
The heads are oversized which, gives them a more comforting appearance for high handicappers. They are a good combination of distance and forgiveness.
Driver
The driver is set to 10.5 degrees so it offers a mid to high launch trajectory.
More important however is the generous sweet spot that produces straight shots even on less than accurate drives.
The shaft is lightweight and provides enough flex to up the ball speed for players with slow swing speeds.
3 Wood
The 3 wood feels nicely balanced: light enough to be weildy in the hands but hefty enough to put some oomph behind your shots.
The sole is also nice and wide to inspire confidence in players not used to woods.
3 Hybrid
The hybrid that comes in the Warbird set offers a good amount of flex.
This will help beginners push the ball further and increase ball speed. Overall, this is a great club to help you warm up to using your longer irons.
Irons
The Warbird set comes with irons 4-9. They are all cavity back irons to help with distance and forgiveness.
One of the nicest features of these irons however, is that they feature progressive offset.
As the irons become trickier to square up with as you move onto the shorter ones, these irons make it easier to produce accurate shots.
Wedges
The great thing about the pitching and sand wedge is that they both have deep undercut channels.
This will help beginners launch the ball higher in the air so their shots will stop dead on the green.
They also feature perimeter weighting and the progressive iron offset extends to these wedges as well.
Putter
Last but not least, you get a super high-quality Odyssey 330 putter. This is a half mallet type putter and it features a urethane insert to enhance feel and roll control.
Shafts:
The Callaway Warbird set comes with steel shafts in the irons with regular flex and they are going to suit average to moderately fast swing speeds the best.
Callaway Edge 10 Piece Set – First Impressions & Club Break Downs
Because Callaway have seen the huge interested in the Strata beginner set, they have aimed the edge set at those improving golfers who want a high quality complete set to hit the course with.
Immediately noticeable when you look at the longer clubs is that they appear more solid and durable. They look more like something akin to the Callaway Mavrik Set than something for beginners.
Driver
The driver is a 10.5 degree club with a large head, massive sweet spot with a low COG and weighting in the back of the club for perfect trajectory and distance.
3 Wood
The 3 Wood has a large head and sweet spot too. the back weighting makes the club easy to get in the air from the fairway and if you struggle getting enough distance off the tee, the 3 wood is a perfect option for that too.
5 Hybrid
A perfect club from the fairway or the rough. The powerful head is built for distance but when coupled with the perimeter weighting, the club produces and excellent towering flight.
6 – 9 Iron
Cavity back irons that are game improvement but also have a deep undercut to allow you work the ball and add extra spin. The clubs are both long and forgiving with high MOI and low COG with tungsten weighting.
Also coming in a tough graphite shaft to suit fast, average and slow swing speeds.
You’ll enjoy hitting these as you make your approach to the green.
Wedges
The PW and the SW and both cavity back and the deep turf interaction with the higher lofts allows you to really attack the pin on your final approach to the green and add spin for the better players.
Putter
The putter in the edge set is one of the best clubs in the bag. It is a premium Odyssey White Hot Putter with visual alignment and tons of stability to keep you advancing on the hole with perfect accuracy.
Shafts
The longer clubs come with durable graphite shafts for faster swing speeds and you get a choice of steel or graphite in the irons. Fast swing speeds will tend to favor steel while beginners and slower swing speeds will favor the forgiveness of the graphite option.
One glaringly obvious omission in the Edge set is that there is no bag, it comes in a box!

Who Is The Edge Set For
The Edge set is perfect for a high handicapper or as a second set for someone who has outgrown their beginners clubs. The Edge is not for low handicappers but it has enough to take a golfer from a high handicap to a mid handicap.
This will suit all players and swing speeds with the graphite shafts, deep undercuts and emphasis on distance.

Aidan Lehane here, I’m a Mid-low handicap golfer who has made tremendous progress in breaking 90 in just over 1 year of playing golf seriously.
I get out to the course or range as often as possible and review all the equipment I’ve come across on this blog.
