Bushnell Pro X2 Vs Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized Golf Rangefinders Comparison Overview

Knowing what gear will give you the best bang for your buck is sort of like a part-time job for golfers. Making this type of decision can be especially difficult with rangefinders.

That’s because modern rangefinders are packed with so many features it can be very hard to tell which ones are fluff and which ones you really need on the course. To that end we went out and tested two popular rangefinders.

Both the Bushnell Pro X2 and the Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized offer different yet helpful features. It will really come down to what your game needs so read on as we highlight the differences between these two models.

Bushnell Pro X2 Overview

The Bushnell Pro X2 is one of the most accurate rangefinders in the Bushnell lineup.

It boasts accuracy to within half a yard. From our testing, we were getting readings that were more like, accurate to within 1 to 1.5 yards.

Still, we were pretty impressed overall. These types of devices usually don’t live up to the lofty hype the manufacturers make about them and  the same can be true of the Pro X2; but for the average golfer, 1-1.5 yard accuracy is more than acceptable.

We must also note that we were a bit disappointed to find that the Pro X2 didn’t have temperature and barometric pressure readings that less expensive Bushnell rangefinders have – an odd omission in our humble opinion.

Objectively, the Bushnell Pro X2 is a very solid and helpful golf rangefinder.

Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized Overview

The Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized may be the more convenient rangefinder between these two.

If you have a particularly shaky hand then you may like the Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized more. It does a pretty good ojb of stabilizing the view and it’s a bit smaller than the Bushnell Pro X2.

The Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized can easily fit in your bag or in your pocket and it picks up targets very quickly. We liked that the Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized doesn’t really slow down your pace even though accuracy may be a bit lacking in some scenarios.

The Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized is also more affordable than the Bushnell Pro X2 – you just have to be sure you know what you’re getting.

Bushnell Pro X2 First Impressions

Again, we were a bit disappointed that the Pro X2 didn’t have features like the BITE magnet and barometric pressure readings.

Still, as we played around with it, the Pro X2 made up for it in other ways.

Key Features

The Pro X2 features 6x magnification and crisp imaging.

And the Bushnell Pro X2 was at least as fast at picking up distances as the Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized -sometimes faster.

The Pro X2 has slope calculation that gives you “plays like” distances based on incline and decline. There is also the classic pinseeker jolt feature that vibrates once the X2 has locked onto the pin. The X2 has a range of 5-1300 yards and can pick up a pin 450 yards out.

The X2 also has a nice outer rubber grip and is waterproof. You can also switch the color of the crosshairs and display in the viewfinder.

The Bushnell Pro X2 has fairly basic features and is very easy to operate.

Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized First Impressions

We honestly thought we might drop the Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized.

That’s because this thing is seriously compact. If you are looking for a rangefinder with a very small footprint, this may be the one for you.

Key Features

We mentioned earlier that these 2 rangefinders have different yet helpful features.

What we were alluding to was the continuous measurement of the Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized rangefinder. This is something the Pro X2 doesn’t have. This feature allows you to pan from one target on the course to another for 8 seconds max to determine the distance between the 2 points.

This was by far the best feature on this rangefinder. The image stabilization was okay, but not very helpful for our group. Other features like 6x magnification, pin locking that displays a green ring when the pin distance has been confirmed, waterproofing and tournament-legal mode are all pretty hum-drum.

The parallel features and cheaper price may make this rangefinder the better value.
