Aldila NVS 65 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
You won’t see a lot pros game the Aldila Nvs 65 series of shafts but if you’re a mid or high handicapper, chances are you can benefit from it.
The Aldila NVS 65 is a graphite shaft that may help correct your slice. But when it comes to shafts, it’s all about the right fit.
If you are in the market for a new shaft for your driver or woods, we recommend seeing a trusty fitter. And if you are constantly sending your balls into the trees from the box, we recommend checking out the Aldila Nvs 65. In the following Aldila Nvs 65 review, we will tell you how it performs and what kind of player it would suit.
Aldila NVS 65 Shaft Overview
The whole point of the Aldila NVS 65 is to eliminate as much shaft variability as possible.
To achieve this, Aldila used incredibly thin layers of carbon fiber to stiffen up the profile while still maintaining a smooth feel. When we tested the Aldila NVS 65, we were taken aback at how stable and consistent it was. This is a pretty light shaft so we were expecting a lot of “give” and generally inconsistent performance.
But the Aldila NVS 65 has a surprisingly stout feel – not so much that it sends a shock up your arms but just enough to keep ball flight stable. It has a mid kick point and it loads up and releases nicely. Many of our testers were noticing faster club head speeds and improved smash factor when using the Aldila NVS 65.
While we’re not a huge fan of the colorful design, we acknowledge that this is a great shaft to use if you want to improve your swing speed and stay on the fairway.
Why is the Aldila NVS 65 Shaft So Popular?
The Aldila NVS 65 is heralded as one of the most popular aftermarket shafts in the industry – and we can see why.
It has the ability to help mid and high handicappers hit longer from the box. Another comment that one of our testers made was that the Aldila NVS 65 made him feel more confident from the tee. It’s a perfect pairing for beefier game improvement drivers which is probably why so many everyday golfers like it.
How Does the Aldila NVS 65 Perform?
Right away, the Aldila NVS 65 feels good in the hands.
It’s got a slightly slim profile which makes it feel very manageable (that’s probably why our testers felt more confident using this shaft). While we’re not fans of the color scheme, we can imagine a world where it actually serves as a visual cue on your downswing. We used the Aldila NVS 65 in stiff flex and it performed great from the tee.
It’s a distance machine so many of our testers were seeing 5-8 yard increases in their drive distance. You can feel it load up and release all the way through contact. So a lot of energy is transferred to the ball. And the Aldila NVS 65 is amazingly straight. Many of our testers who struggle with a slice were blown away at how easy it was to stay on the fairway. Even tight fairways weren’t much of a problem for the Aldila NVS 65.
We would recommend the Aldila NVS 65 in stiff flex to almost anyone because the shaft itself is so light. The Aldila NVS 65 also performs well with heavier drivers and wood heads.

What Flexes Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
You can get the Aldila NVS 65 in stiff and regular flex.
If you have a swing speed of 80 MPH or higher, we highly recommend the stiff flex. Fast swingers will likely find the regular flex version too noodly. The regular flex version would only be useful for new players or players with low swing speeds (under 80 MPH)..
What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
The Aldila NVS 65 comes in 68 and 67 gram versions.
Again, the 68 gram version would be a good fit for almost any mid or high handicap player. The 67 gram version would only be beneficial if your swing speed is in the 70 MPH range.
