Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight

Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Shaft

Brands like True Temper, Fujikura and KBS garner a lot of attention from people in the market for iron shafts.

But it seems that in 2023, people have forgotten about Aerotech. Aerotech iron shafts have been gamed at the professional level and are tour-proven.

The only issue is that their shafts don;t exactly utilize the latest technology.

At least, that’s the only reason we can figure for their seemingly declining market share.

However, basic technology is sometimes the best. Some of our testers are actually familiar with Aerotech shafts and were eager to do a review for the Aerotech Steelfiber i95.

So all of us testers headed to the course with the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 to see exactly what it brings to the table.

Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Shaft Overview

The Aerotech Steelfiber i95 is a graphite shaft.

More specifically, it bears a graphite core that is wrapped in 59 miles worth of super-thin steel fibers.

It is advertised as a low-vibration graphite shaft that offers “pinpoint accuracy.”

When we tested the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 shaft, we really liked the feel. It is an active shaft but maintains a smooth feel.

While we wouldn’t say it is as smooth as some of the graphite shafts that Mitsubishi has come out with in the past few years, the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 is certainly smooth enough to appease most players.

As advertised, there was no harsh vibration on mis-hits. When we did mis-hit, we could certainly feel how we mis-hit through the feedback of this shaft.

But the feedback never resulted in anything more than a slightly harder feel in the hands.

The looks of this shaft are nothing to write home about. The aesthetic is plain which for us, was a good thing.

The Aerotech Steelfiber i95 has a smooth silvery finish that when looked at up close, reveals a coarser texture that reveals the steel fibers.

As the name implies, the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 is a 95g shaft but there are many weight classes to choose from including 70g, 74g, 85g, 110g and 125g.

Why is the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 So Popular?

When you have a shaft that has been used by players like Jack Nicklaus and Tim Clark just to name a couple, you’re going to get some attention.

The Aerotech Steelfiber i95 has been seen by millions of golf fans around the world. Even True Temper has taken notice. Just 4 years ago, True Temper actually bought Aerotech Golf.

How Does the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Perform?

Overall, the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 is a lightweight iron shaft.

Our testers definitely felt the difference in weight from their normal shafts to the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 shafts.

For the most part, the difference in weight didn’t affect distance in the long irons. But short iron distance and accuracy did take a hit.

We only mention this for players who are using heavier shafts.

If you are currently gaming a shaft heavier than 95g and need to spec down to match a declining swing speed, the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 should be no problem.

If however you are maintaining a consistent swing speed and want to spec down, it may take you some time to get used to the lighter Aerotech Steelfiber i95.

For most of us though, the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 resulted in better distance through faster club head speed – especially in the long irons.

All of our testers loved the easy flight and distance that the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 produced in the long and mid irons. We had to be pretty careful with the short irons though.

Slight mis-hits in the short irons resulted in divergence of 14+ yards.
