Taylormade has not abandoned distance in these irons though. The Taylormade P790’s may not be the longest irons that Taylormade produces but they still have the Speed Pocket channel which allows the face to hinge and push the ball for better overall speed.
Ping G710 Irons Overview
Ping has married good looks with intermediate-friendly performance with the G710 irons.
The first thing you will notice about these irons is the beautiful black Hydropearl finish.

Ping has also placed a high emphasis on forgiveness with these irons.
The G710’s rock a tungsten screw in the toe and a tungsten weight in the heel for perimeter weighting and higher MOI. Translation: more forgiveness.
The G710’s also have maraging steel faces. Maraging steel is used in aerospace engineering. It is exceptionally strong and exceptionally thin.
As if that weren’t enough, the maraging steel faces feature VFT (Variable Face Thickness) to push ball speeds on dead center hits and improve accuracy on mis-hits.

Taylormade P790 – First Impressions
The first thing to notice about the P790 irons is the compact, forged heads that come in a shape and style that will suit the better players.

If we had to choose one specific group of players who could benefit the most from these clubs though, we’d have to pick beginners and high-handicappers.
