Miura CB-301 Vs Miura CB-302 Irons Comparison Overview
Miura is a company known for exquisite-feeling irons. They typically use premium metals for their irons and forge them to near perfection.
Two examples of Miura’s commitment to quality are the Miura CB-301’s and the Miura CB-302’s.
It should be noted that the Miura CB-301 irons and the Miura CB-302 irons are very similar in most respects.
The Miura CB-302’s were released essentially to replace the Miura CB-301’s.
But you can still buy the Miura CB-301’s (and usually for a lower price than the 302’s) so we have prepared the following comparison overview to help you decide which Miura irons would be best for you.
Miura CB-301 Irons Comparison Overview
“The profile of the Miura CB-301 irons can be described with one word: moderate.”
It really seems like Miura was trying to go right through the middle of the road with the Miura CB-301’s.
What we mean is that the topline is moderately thick, the soles are moderately thick and the offset is, you guessed it, moderate.
At address, the Miura CB-301’s have more of a game improvement look to them than anything else. But that doesn’t mean they look bad. The Miura CB-301’s are fully forged cavity back irons.
Our testers were averaging 167.6 yards with the 6-iron after three swings each. The Miura CB-301’s are good distance irons for players who aren’t putting a premium on forgiveness.
Miura CB-302 Irons Overview
“The Miura CB-301 irons feature a nice satin chrome finish and the almost obligatory S20C soft carbon steel forging.”
Compared to the Miura CB-301’s the Miura CB-302’s have a more refined sole and leading edge. They produce a low/mid launch that can be manipulated nicely.
They are about as forgiving as the Miura CB-301 irons – meaning that severe mis-hits near the toe and sole are punished with wide divergence and lowered ball speed.
But if you make contact with the sweet spot, you will be rewarded with a very smooth, affirming feel and straight flight.
However, the Miura CB-302’s didn’t play as long for our testers as the Miura CB-301’s. They were averaging 161.9 yards with the Miura CB-302 6-iron.
“The Miura CB-301’s are better distance irons – even if they aren’t significantly forgiving. The flight of the Miura CB-302’s is workable so we think mid handicappers would do well with them.
The Miura CB-301’s would also work well for mid handicappers who need distance above all else.”
Miura CB-301 Irons First Impressions
“We were expecting a lot from these irons.”
And we were immediately impressed with the soft feel and the clean look at address. They are a good mid-sized set of irons that offer unexpected forgiveness.
We would bet that anyone playing these irons for the first time would comment on how nice they look behind the ball.
Miura CB-302 First Impressions
“At first, we thought the Miura CB-302 irons looked really sleek and sexy.”
They have a smooth hosel transition and look really nice both in the bag and at address. The depth of the cavity is also considerable so we were expecting good forgiveness from these irons. For the most part, that’s what we got. As long as you stay in the hitting zone, you can expect straight flight and controlled launch from these irons.
“The Miura CB-302 irons will give you something to aspire to. They have a premium look and feel that belie their game improvement design.”

Who Are the Miura CB-301 Irons for?
At the top of this review, we mentioned that while the Miura CB-301 irons are said to be good for all players, they are actually most beneficial to a certain category of players.
That category is mid handicappers. Specifically, mid handicappers who swing at or above 85 MPH. This is where you can capitalize on the low/mid flight and the low spin rates.
Mid handicappers will also be less likely to severely mis-hit – severe mis-hits are not covered up very well by these irons.
The Miura Family of Irons
If you’re not sold on the Miura CB-301 irons, you should check out the MC-502’s.
They are made from S20C soft carbon steel and have slightly weaker lofts than the Miura CB-301 irons. The MC-502 irons are definitely for mid to low handicap players who prefer a more traditional blade style.
They aren’t as forgiving as the Miura CB-301 irons but they offer the kind of performance one would expect from Miura irons: excellent workability, soft feel and great distance for fast swingers.
