Cobra are a brand that have been emerging in recent years and boast tour stars like Rickie Fowler and Bryson Dechambeau using their clubs while Wilson are a trusted name in the game that have been around forever.

Wilson have so much experience making beginner clubs that the culmination of their efforts, the Platinum Profile set was bound to be among the best in the world, and it certainly is.
You are going to immediately notice the high levels of quality if you order this beast of a set. You get the full compliment of clubs you can carry on the course, Driver, 2 Woods, 2 Hybrids, Irons, Wedges & Putter.
The clubs are aimed at the average player, the driver has a loft of 10.5 degrees to suit any swing speed. The clubs all have a low COG to allow easy launch and the irons are cavity for forgiveness, with thick soles for distance.

Cobra XL Overview
Cobra have been a growing name in the game for a while now and this high quality intermediate/beginner set is certainly enough to challenge more expensive, similar quality sets.
This sets come with the same perimeter weighting, large sweet spots and game improvement characteristics and also contains all the same clubs.
You do however get more options as to how your set is built.
You can chose graphite or steel shafts in your irons and you also get to chose between a senior and a regular flex, making this set more customizable for seniors and slower swing speeds.
The set is complete by an excellent, premium cart bag with a large drinks pocket.
The difference in quality between the clubs is not a lot so for most average players and beginners, we would recommend the Wilson Profile Platinum set.
If you are a senior or have a slower swing speed, the Cobra XL is worth considering although it will cost you about $300 more. For us the Platinum Profile is the better option for most.

The first thing you notice about this set when it arrives is that the overall quality of the package is very high. There is a large assortment of clubs and you cant wait to try out each one.
The clubs are sharp and prestine and you can quickly tell that this set is aimed at game improvement for beginners, high handicappers and average players.
Driver
The face of the 460cc driver is large and forgiving, the loft is also for the average player at 10.5 degrees. The weighting is is at the back center of the club allowing a low COG and a higher ball flight. Overall, distance, launch and forgiveness are impressive.
Woods
The 3 wood and 5 wood both have deep and low weighting. The face is large and this contributes to effortlessly straight shots and impressive launch angles from the fairway or the tee.
Hybrids
Hybrids have grown rapidly in popularity over the past 10 years and these clubs are perfect to hit from the rough or the fairway. A low centre of gravity and shorter shafts make these clubs easier to wield for the average player.
Irons

You can quickly tell that the quality of the Cobra XL set is better than your regular beginners set and that the clubs are built for maximum distance and forgiveness.
Driver
The driver is 460cc Titanium which is rear weight for a lower and deep COG of gravity which leads to long and far strikes. If you go with the graphite irons, you get an 11.5 degree driver which is perfect for anyone with a slower swing speed.
The driver is 10.5 in the steel version.
Woods
The 3 wood is going to be a nice club off the tee and off the fairway and the 5 wood can send it greenwards on plenty of par 5’s. The lofts are generous and the turf interaction is good. High and straight flights with massive sweet spots.
Hybrids
Hybrids are the go to club from the fairway and even the rough. You can the ball flying high with the back weighting and high MOI of the Cobra XL hybrids.
Irons
The irons have game improvement written all over them with thick chunk soles but you should be able to generate some spin with the clubs as well.
Wedges
Control and forgiveness becomes more paramount with the shorter clubs and you should be able to get some good workability out of the wedges.
Putter
Nothing to write home about with the putter. It is a good quality blade putter with a visual alignment.
Shafts
